Chapter 4: Arrogance
"These chapter names are so strange," Someone from the GusuLan Sect commented and murmurs of agreement spread throughout the room.
Wei WuXian was riding on the donkey he had taken from before. However, they could see a sigh passing his lips.
'I've made the wrong choice. This donkey is much too hard to please!'
Although it was only a donkey, it would only eat fresh, young grass with dewdrops still hanging on them. If the tip of grass had a streak of yellow, it wouldn't eat it. Passing a farm, Wei WuXian stole some straw for the donkey, but after it chewed for a while, it spit it out with ptoo, even louder than its human counterpart. If it didnt get high quality food, it would throw a tantrum and start kicking. Wei WuXian had almost been kicked multiple times. And if that wasn't bad enough, the brays the donkey let out sounded awful to the ear.
It was useless as a mount or a pet!!!
Almost everyone in the room burst into laughter. Lan JingYi smirked, "So you weren't fond of Lil' Apple before either!!"
Wei WuXian released another sigh and couldn't help but think of something he barely used to think about. His sword. It was probably collected by the leader of a prominent sect and would have been hung against the wall as a trophy to show other people.
Wei WuXian snorted, 'Trophy? Would they hang my sword as a trophy when I was known more for my flute? Perhaps that's the trophy instead,'
"We wanted to!" Sect Leader Ouyang scoffed, "But Sect Leader Jiang refused to give up the flute,"
Jiang Cheng's eyebrow twitched and Wei WuXian smiled, whispering, "Thank you,"
Jiang Cheng just nodded, avoiding eye contact.
After pushing and pulling for a while, the road reached the farmland of some village. Wei WuXian glanced around, eyes narrowed due to the scorching sun. He spotted an old well with a barrel and dipper beside it, placed by it for any passer buyers. The donkey ran over there and nothing could make it leave. Wei WuXian hopped down and slapped its buttocks, "You're destined for wealth, even harder to please than me,"
"Wei Ying...you are very easy to please," Lan WangJi said.
"That's because you spoil me," Wei WuXian pouted.
"No, Second Young Master Lan is correct," Jiang Yanli shook her head.
"So true, Wei Ying, you don't need much to smile for real," Wen Qing agreed.
The donkey spat at him.
While they fooled around aimlessly, a group of people approached the field.
Yu Ziyuan scowled, "look at you, making a fool of yourself,"
"I always make a fool of myself, Madam Yu," Wei WuXian grinned, "And, with all due respect, I'm not connected to any sect, so its not like anyone's reputation is getting damaged by a lunatic acting like a lunatic,"
