"This is the place. I found it when you first went to school. It's where Scout found me!"
I smiled as I watched the 13 year old look around, it wasn't much, just a clearing with a few trees to most, but if you looked closely, you could see the markings on the trees, made by me, when I was last here.
"What do you wanna do?" She turned to me, pointing to the set of daggers on the tree stump. "Can I use those, I want to see you use your bow!!" She grinned happily as I nodded, walking up to the 'line' I had made last time.
"I want to go first!"
"Alright, go."
Maribel nodded and spread her legs into a strong stance, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath. In a second, she snapped open her eyes, pulling two daggers out of the holster and throwing them towards the target, then running forward and grabbing a branch, pulling herself up and throwing another dagger, this one went right over my head, hitting the tree behind me.
I rolled my eyes as she smirked and dropped down from the tree, walking proudly back to me.
"Okay, that was decent." I laughed as she scowled, "More then decent, it was awesome!"
"Sureeee, my turn now!" I giggled, picking up my bow and stepping forward.
Releasing a breath, I opened my eyes and aimed at my target, pulling back the string of my bow and holding.
I spotted a pair of eyes in the trees, no... two pairs. They were the same pairs that have been following me for the past few weeks. Even though I got used to seeing them, finding them this far out in the woods startled me, causing me to gasp.
"Huh? What's wrong?" Maribel walked up behind me, her eyes questioning as I turned my head to reassure her.
"N-Nothing! It's nothing, I just saw something... Probably just Scout or something."
I tried my best at a reassuring smile as I turned back to my target. The eyes were still there, but for the time being, I pretended they weren't, refocusing my bow and letting go.
The arrow flew straight and true, a soft 'thunk' sound could be heard as it buried itself in the wood.
Perfect shot.
I glanced up at the spot where the eyes were. They were gone.
I wasn't surprised at that, but I was surprised to see that I actually wanted them to stay.
I guess I got used to them...
--
After a few hours, we packed up and started to head back. It was getting dark, and you could just see the beginnings of the sunset peaking through the trees.
The eyes hadn't come back yet, but I still found my self searching the depths of the forest for them. It made me uneasy, like I usually did, but I ignored it.
So far, Maribel hadn't noticed anything off, though if she did, she was hiding it well. She learned it from her parents..
I smiled at the thought, then pulled myself out of my thoughts when I heard scuttling in the bushes. At first I thought it was Scout, cause' I knew she would sometimes wander off and stuff, but I saw she and Maribel running along ahead of me.
That made me worried.
I mean, it could just be an animal, or my imagination, but it also could be someone, or someone's. It could be the people following me.
