I walked slowly, turning my head in all directions, alert and excited. I was finally in the forest, and I was now looking for a small clearing, not to far from the edge, but far enough that nobody could see me, and interrupt me.
The forest was pretty dark, so I was using my flashlight, though I still could see better without it. I adjusted my rip on my bow and surveyed the area, "It's a pretty open place, plus it might help with my accuracy.. Yeah, this is good." I nodded, setting my flashlight down so that it faced away from me, towards my target, a random group of trees.
I took out a knife and let my sleeve slide back down my arm, then turned to the tree. I didn't do a very good job, but I carved a bunch of target points that I wanted to hit, some higher, lower farther or closer. When I was done, I stepped back and put the knife back in its sheath, turning and walking back to my light.
I stood and took a breath, then picked up my bow, turning and notching an arrow, raising my bow focusing my sight on the targets. I pulled the string back, having it rest on my cheek, my posture straight and sturdy.
Breath in...
Breath out...
I let go of the string, the arrow flying straight, fast, and hitting the closes target spot, in perfect accuracy. I cheered quietly, then refocused, reaching into my holster and notching another arrow, drawing back and, this time hitting a tree farther back.
Yeah! That was great!!
I grinned and notched two arrows, "I wanna see if all that practice payed off." I said, raising my bow and focusing, pulling back the string, again, and resting for a second, letting the strength build up. After I counted a few seconds, I let go, letting the arrows fly. The first one hit a tree that was closer, and it was pretty accurate, sticking only an inch away from the small dot.
The second arrow went farther back, it flew straight into one of the farthest trees that I had marked, hitting it square on the target dot that I carved.
"Hell yeah!!" I cheered, pumping my fists in the air in celebration.
I slung my bow onto my back, so that I didn't have to hold it, then I turned away from the light, facing the marked trees.
" I'll finish the rest of the arrows later, I want to practice with my blades..."
I grinned, getting into a fighting stance, then running at a tree, quickly drawing one of the daggers off of the holster on my arm and slashing at it again and again, I then turned and kicked a tree nearby, throwing my dagger at a tree opposite of me, jumping and grabbing ahold of a low hanging branch and hoisting myself up, crouching and jumping to the next branch up, pulling myself onto that one.
I looked down and drew another dagger, throwing it to a nearby target and jumping down, dropping into a shoulder roll to lessen the fall. I quickly recovered and ran to the target, grabbing my dagger and slashing it, finishing with a quick kick.
"That, was awesome!!" I said, laughed breathlessly, putting my hands on my hips. Once I had calmed down and went around and collected my stuff, putting the blades in the sheaths and my arrows in the holster.
I have to do this again, and I'm getting pretty good...
"I guess I should finish off my arrows, huh?" I said, to nobody in particular, taking my bow off my back and getting it in the correct grip.
I faced the farthest target and notched an arrow, drawing the string to my cheek and releasing, hitting the farthest target, a small little rough spot one of the smaller trees.
