In fact, I really didn't have a good day. The call I got from my lawyer today fucked up my mood. Then as I'm just about to calm myself down a little before class, this girl has to come up here and messes with me. I don't fucking know what her problem is. It's not Iike I didn't try with her. Still, now I find myself in a situation like that. God, what is wrong with me? I've screamed at a student before, sometimes that's necessary, but this here is different. I half attacked her, and momentarily she is captured between me and this wall. If we were in a different situation, it would seem like...No! What's wrong with my head? Olivia Michaels is going to be one of my new students.
While I'm thinking about a way to fix what I just did, she is looking me straight in the eyes. Wait, did she look down at my lips? Holy fuck, what have I done? Just then, I realize the small gap left between us. My heartbeat is getting faster. All of a sudden, I can't remember the anger I've felt before. The thoughts about my asshole of an ex-husband are gone. The rage about Olivia Michaels blew off. There was me and her, pressed against the wall. I felt fire in my stomach. A fire that wasn't supposed to be there. The ringtone of my phone brought me back to this world. I looked into her eyes for one more second and what I saw made me realize. No words were needed because we both knew what just happened.
When I took the phone call, Olivia fastly walked down the street back to her motorcycle. Whatever she planned to do was my fault, and I was aware of that. Probably she needed to clear her head. That's what I do when I ride my bike. It's the one thing in the world that makes me feel free. I can be happy, forget everything as the speed goes up, I can fly.
My lawyer starts talking again: "Miss Black, are you still there?" Crap, I totally forgot to answer him. This girl is making me go crazy. "Yes, of course. Is there any news on the case?" I asked, hoping he finally has got some good news. "I'm afraid there is. The judge called me this morning. He rescheduled the hearing. I guess your husband's lawyer must have discovered new proofs." My face drops. That son of a bitch! Why can't he just confirm? My eyes start to tear up, and I feel I feel a lump in my throat. "I see." is the only thing coming out of my mouth. "For the rest of the conversation, I didn't say another word. I simply was too troubled to speak. This shit already robbed my last nerves, and it just won't stop. The worst is, I'm a teacher. I gotta go to class now and pretend nothing is wrong. I can't just tell my new boss, "Hey, I'm not in the state right now to stand in front of a class because my husband was an abusive asshole and is now getting away with it."
The day passes as I try to get my mind off this terrible morning. Almost all classes are over. I look at my phone to check out my last lesson. It's English with a graduate class. They all seem to be a little surprised when I walk into the room. My eyes glide over the faces and suddenly stop. I totally forgot Olivia is in this class. Great, another thing I have to deal with. Anyway, I proceed with my lesson.
About half an hour later, I turn around to write something on the board. As I do, I hear a male student's outrageous whistling. No, I can't believe it! My eyes meet his, and I glance at him furiously. He doesn't seem to care and speaks his inappropriate mind: "Didn't know we're getting such a hot snack for lunch." Almost the whole class starts laughing. That really is way too much for me right now. Before I can think about what to say, I hear Olivia's voice in the back: "Connor, you better shut the fuck up!" I hold my breath. Connor turns to face her: "Back off! Liv, That's none of your business." In less than a second, Liv's chair smashed against the wall. She walked straight up to Connor: "Oh, it is my business if some shitty guy can't keep his mouth shut! Just because you only use your dick to think doesn't mean you can act like an asshole!"
Connor gets up too, shit the situation is getting out of hand. He is now standing right in front of Olivia. "You should stop now! Isn't it embarrassing to be our teacher's little dyke?", after Connor said those words, Olivia doesn't need more. She lands a punch right into Connors's face. From the way she did it, you could tell it wasn't her first one. She punched him hard, he stumbled a few steps backward, and mumbles: "This isn't over, you bitch!" I see Olivia getting ready for the next one. This time I can't let that happen again. With determined steps, I get over and grab her arm. "You are coming with me, Olivia Michaels!"
