The Sandlot x y/n

(y/n pov )

hey i'm y/n i'm 14 years old and well i love baseball and i mean LOVE . I've been doing it since i was a little girl . I live in salt lake city right in the middle of the town next to a park me and my friends like to call the sandlot . I was the first one to go there followed by Benny then Kenny then ham then Timmy and Tommy then Bertram then yeah yeah then last but not least squints . . Well we will meet them later my story starts walking to the sandlot with Benny .

"morning Benny " i say walking out my house with my bat and mitt at the ready.

" oh morning y/n sorry i just forgot you were coming cause you have been so in love with your books ." He said teasingly

" oh whatever " i mumbled while walking over to him pushing him a tiny bit .

" Haha okay now we gotta run cause we're already twenty minutes late and we need to get the ball still ." Benny tried to say quickly but ended up doing it really slowly.

As he said those last few words i looked down at my watch shit we would be in so much trouble with the others if we were half an hour late so we needed to rush .

" okay so if we run now we might get there before 8:30" i said

I started to run not caring if he didn't catch up i had to definitely get there first because well i just had to it was my destiny . And yeah if your wondering we have practice at 9am every morning .when i finally got to the store i rushed in still wondering if Benny was behind me .After i came out of buying the 98 cent ball i looked round and saw Benny running towards me panting .

"Haha your panting you slow loser " i joked teasingly .

" HaHa really funny y/n really funny ." Benny said slowly trying to catch his breath

We both burst out laughing before running again to the sandlot and seeing the rest of the boys looking tired and grumpy .

" where have you guys been " Ham said . Well his actual name is Hamilton Porter but we cant be bothered to say that every time so we just call him Ham he is a short , stubby, ginger kid .

"yeah yeah i was about to lose hope" Yeah yeah said . Again his name is actually Alan McClennan . He is a short skinny brunette dude he might look small but he has a lot of sass . Everyone was now bickering and getting grumpy about me and Benny being late like i said .

" com'on guys we ain't that late " Isaid loudly so all the 8 boys could hear me .

" y/n have you checked your watch recently or not " this one was from Kenny , a tall black boy with a hilarious attitude once you get to know him .

After Kenny said this i looked down at my watch it was 9:00 am already . At this moment i thought we were screwed . Whilst i was thinking this i thought squints had been awfully quite . Squints was a short skinny kid with big black glasses and a baseball cap not many people had ever seen him take off ( well except me because i have my ways ;0 ). I looked around and saw squints lining himself up with the bat and getting ready to throw it at my head .

" MICHAEL SQUINTS PALLEDOROUS DON'T YOU DARE THROW THAT BALL AT ME " I screamed at the top of my lungs . But as soon as I saw him process what I said I say him throw the ball in the air and hit it with his bat . It was coming at me like slo-mo and well before I could say anything I quickly ducked hitting a kid that I had never seen before straight in the eye .

Laughs fell the whole field well except for Benny and me we ran over to see if the boy was okay . He looked only around my age just a bit younger .

" oh my gosh are you okay I'm sorry I didn't realise you were behind me and well squints can be a mental person sometimes sorry I talk to much is your eye okay ? I said with a lot of detail .

" what she meant to say is she's sorry and are you okay sorry she talks a lot " Benny translated for me

" Uhm uhm I-I'm okay I got to go now bye " the boy said quite quickly . Whilst running out of the sandlot .

"Um well that was weird" I said to Benny
