I ran through the halls of the hospital. So much white, everything was white. The floors, the walls, the outfits, white. It made me feel ill to my stomach. Ray chased after me. This surely was a mistake, right? This was all some horrible nightmare that I'll wake up from. I knew it. I knew everything was going too well. I should've been more careful. I should've gone to the store with them. I should've stopped them from going. If I had just... done something.
I reached the room they were in. It took a few minutes before I could bring myself to open the door. Maybe somebody else was in there, I couldn't tell. my eyes were blurry from my tears. I was praying over and over again in my head that this was a mistake, that the people underneath the two white blankets weren't my younger brother and mother. I'm not even a religious person. I lifted up the blankets at the same time. My prayers didn't come true. It was my mother and brother. They truly were dead. My world was crushed.

Tears began to pour down the miserable girl's cheeks. Ray held back his tears and reached out towards the girl. Y/n practically collapsed into his arms. He caught her and wrapped his arms around her tightly. She stood there for a few minutes sobbing uncontrollably. She'd try and try to wipe the tears away with her sweater sleeve, but her sadness was too much to erase. A tall and skinny nurse entered the room. She had long brown hair tied into a ponytail. She placed a hand on y/n's shoulder and reached out for her hand, slipping a note into her fist.
"This is from your mother... I- I'm so sorry. She spoke and told us to write all of her words down and to give them to you. She... she knew it was over. Again, I'm so sorry." She looked down at the ground and gently pulled her hands away from the girl. "If you need anything, ask to speak to Mrs. Iwasaki." The nurse left the room with the sound of her shoes against the white tiles.
The girl inhaled deeply. She couldn't bear to stay in that cramped depressing room any longer. She headed towards the waiting room with Ray following after. The two teenagers sat in blue chairs, side by side. There were several other people in the waiting room. An old couple presumably there for a checkup, A young child coughing as he's cradled in the arms of his mother, and a young man reading a magazine. She wished to be one of them, any of them. For that child, the worst thing going on in his life was probably his cold. She wanted to be like him, to have barely anything to worry about.
Everything was so hard to process. She lost her mother and her brother, her best friend was being forced to marry a girl he's never met, she had no clue where she was going to live from now on, and she was almost completely alone now. Through her sniffles she held up her hand, opening the crumbled note. She inhaled and exhaled, taking a deep breath before opening the letter. Y/n began to read the note;
Dear y/n,
I know it's my time. I know it's ending here, and I'm sorry. Please, don't blame yourself. The last thing I want is for you to live the rest of your teen years in grief. When you were born, I arranged something. When I died, you'd receive all of the money in my bank account along with all the money I've been saving for your college. It'll probably be too much for you to stay in our home, plus there's no need for you to live in such a big place on your own. I'm telling you this so that you won't feel guilty if you do leave. I want you to move on. However, this doesn't mean I want you to forget about me. Please visit mine and Alex's grave whenever you get a chance. Tell us about your day, what's happening, the things you usually tell us. If you get the chance to go to a college that's further from this city, take it. If you move away forever, at least visit us once a year. We'll always be watching over you, so don't do anything stupid. Oh, but don't you worry. Whenever you're with Ray I'll look the other way, *wink wink.* Now... There's something else I should tell you. As you know, your father left after your brother was born. As you also know, he cheated on me and moved away with his mistress. While your father is a horrible excuse of a man, I want you to go see him. Even if it's just for a minute and then you leave. Tell him that your brother and I are gone. You better come to my grave and tell me how that son of a bitch reacts. Oh man, maybe I'll even get to see it. That'll be hilarious. Tell him my last words were me confessing my undying love for him, then once he's done crying and feeling guilty tell him it was a joke. Tell him it was my idea for it too, you better not take credit for it. Please don't shut everyone out now that I'm gone. Please don't cry about me for too long. I love you, sweetheart, remember that. I'm sorry.•| ⊱✿⊰ |•
