The Pokemon Explorers

Charmander and Pikachu

Chapter 1:

     "Charmander, wake up!" said Pikachu.

     Charmander got up and looked around. He was on a deserted beach and the sun was setting on the horizon.

     "Are you okay?" asked Pikachu.

     "Yes, but where am I?" asked Charmander.

     "You are at Krabby Beach. I came here to watch the sun set but then I found you unconscious on the ground," explained Pikachu. "What happened to you?"

     "I don't know what happened. I was a human until I was somehow transformed into a pokemon and transported to this beach," Charmander explained.

     "Well you should definitely get back to town, evil pokemon lurk around at nighttime," warned Pikachu.

     Charmander noticed that it was now dark, and he saw a shadow move in the distance. "Let's go," he agreed.

     Pikachu led Charmander into town and to his house. "Here we are. You can sleep in my room. Take this sleeping bag," said Pikachu. "Just don't wander around outside during the night. There have recently been increasing amounts of evil pokemon, so it is dangerous to be outside during the night."

     Charmander woke up at three in the morning. He couldn't sleep because he was having unusual flashbacks of being a human and a bright light flashing, then getting transported onto the beach on a stormy night. Because he was curious, he disobeyed Pikachu and went outside. He couldn't see anything and thought of returning to the house, but he wanted to explore around more.

     There was a faint sound of rustling leaves coming from near the beach. He still could not see until finally remebering that his tail had flames, and then he used these flames to ignite the end of a stick that he used as a torch to see.

     Charmander continued to follow the rustling sound because it was gradually increasing in volume, meaning that the creature causing the sound was getting nearer. Finally, after forty minutes, he saw a shadow in the bushes move. It seemed to be a pokemon. Charmander was somewhat afraid of the dark now that Pikachu had told him about evil pokemon lurking around at night, and was starting to get frightened and regret coming outside at all.

     "Mwa ha ha ha!" laughed the evil pokemon in the bushes. Suddenly a Shiftry leaped out of the brush. "You have fallen for my trap," said the Shiftry. "Well it is your fault for coming outside at night, so don't expect me to have pity on you." Shiftry used Leaf Storm on Charmander and knocked him out.

     Charmander woke up. He was inside Pikachu's house again and it was noon. Pikachu was asking what happened and what Charmander did.

     "Did you go outside when I told you not to?" Pikachu said looking angry.

     "How did he know?" thought Charmander.

     "This is what happens when you ignore me; you get into trouble. I told you that there are evil pokemon around during the night!" Pikachu shouted.

     "Well anyway, I should probably introduce you to some of the pokemon around here," said Pikachu. He led Charmander outside his house.

     "First of all, this town is called Poke-Central. Many different pokemon live here," Pikachu explained. "Some pokemon also have shops where you can purchase items, like Wigglytuff."

     "Hiya!" said Wigglytuff. "You can buy food from my store."

     "Chansey, Roserade, and Sableye also have different shops in town. Roserade sells berries, Chansey can store your items in the storage, and Sableye can store your money; so his shop is the bank," Pikachu explained.

     "Krabby Beach is to the west of town. To the north of town there is Sunflora Forest. To the east of town there is Abomasnow Mountains. And to the south of town, there is Finneon Pond. Like I said earlier, don't go outside at nighttime, but if you want to explore around, then both of us can go venture out," continued Pikachu. 

     "By the way, what was the pokemon that attacked you last night?" Pikachu asked.

     "It was a Shiftry that attacked me with the move Leaf Storm," answered Charmander.

     "Hmm," said Pikachu. "Well I have a question I have wanted to ask you. Would you like to start an exploration team with me? It would be exciting to get to explore the many wonders of this world." Pikachu said.

     Charmander pondered the idea for a while. "Yes," he decided.

     "Excellent!" replied Pikachu. "We can apply to start an exploration team at the guild."

     "What is 'the guild'?" asked Charmander.

     "It is a place where many pokemon start exploration teams. The leader of the guild is Chatot," answered Pikachu.

     "Who are you?" asked Chatot upon their arrival.

     "Well obviously I'm Pikachu and this is Charmander," replied Pikachu. "But if you meant what our team name is, it is 'The Pokemon Explorers'," Pikachu said.

     "What? We never agreed on that name!" Charmander argued.

    "Silence!" shouted Chatot. "Your team name is The Pokemon Explorers, no excuses!"

     "Fine," Charmander said defiantly.

     "Your first job will take place tomorrow morning. For now, Marill will show you around the guild," Chatot said.

     "Okay, let me show you around," Marill said. She led them upstairs and through a dark passageway into a small room. "This is your bedroom. You come here at night to sleep and also restore your health," Marill explained. Marill led them back through the passageway and into a bigger room. "This is where all of the pokemon eat after working hard during their mission." She then led them back downstairs into the large room where Chatot was. "This is the main room. This is where many pokemon are at, and where the Job Bulletin Board is. Well that's all! You two should probably head upstairs and sleep now."

     "Let's go upstairs," Pikachu told Charmander. They headed into their bedroom.

     "I can hardly wait until tomorrow morning. We get to start our first mission as an exploration team!" Pikachu said enthusiastically. "I wonder what it is like inside the dungeons that we will explore in. Well, we will see tomorrow. Good night, Charmander," Pikachu said.

     "Good night." Charmander replied.
