No one’s POV
Rantaro helped Kokichi up, Kokichi found it kinda strange.
“My sister had to stay after school to work on a project, she told me to wait for you. She said you were coming over.”
Kokichi just hesitantly nodded, “Yeah..”
“Come on.” Rantaro says as he starts to walk off.
Kokichi nods and follows Rantaro, they both walk to his house in silence. After walking for about fifteen minutes they finally made it to Rantaro’s house. Rantaro opens the door for Kokichi and he goes in, Kokichi awkwardly stands there, waiting for Rantaro to walk in. Rantaro walks in and takes his shoes off and throws his school bag onto the couch.
“You can take off your shoes, you know, you don’t have to be so nervous.” Rantaro said before pulling out his phone to check the time. “My sister shouldn’t be home for another two hours so take off your shoes and come on,” he then said before looking at Kokichi.
Kokichi nervously nods and takes off his shoes, his school bag still on his back. Rantaro sighs and begins walking up the stairs to his room, Kokichi follows closely behind. Rantaro leads Kokichi into his room and closes the door behind him.
“Give me your bag.”
Kokichi takes off his school bag and hands it to Rantaro, he takes the bag and lays it in the corner of his room. They then both stood there for a few moments in silence, then Kokichi’s phone rang. It was Shuichi, he stared at the phone for a few seconds before answering.
Kokichi’s POV
Not even five minutes of being at Rantaro’s house I get a call from Shuichi. I stare at my phone for a few seconds before answering.
Kokichi: Hello?
Shuichi: Ah! Hi Kokichi, are you doing okay?
Kokichi: Yeah.. I’m alright, I just got here like two minutes ago
Shuichi: Okay, just call me or text me if something happens, okay?
Kokichi: Okay.. thanks Shuichi.
Shuichi: No problem Kokichi! I’ll talk to you later, bye!
Kokichi: Bye.
Call Ends
“Shuichi, huh?” Rantaro laughs.
I look over at Rantaro and just nod. I don’t think Rantaro and Shuichi get along much.
“He seems very protective of you.”
I just nod again.
“Hey, why aren’t you talkative? I’m not gonna hurt you, I’m over the whole Middle School thing. I grew up.” Rantaro said, flashing me a warm smile.
“Oh, I’m just a bit nervous.” I nervously laughed.
“Understandable.” Rantaro says,
Me and Rantaro kinda just stand there in awkward silence, then Rantaro gets on his phone and I get on mine.
No One’s POV
A few hours go by and Rantaro’s sister still never came home yet, then Rantaro gets a phone call. It’s from his sister. She says the project took longer than expected and that she wouldn’t be home tonight, and told Rantaro to say sorry to Kokichi for her.
Rantaro’s POV
I sigh as I hung up the phone, I checked the time. 7:37 pm. I then look out my bedroom window and notice how dark it is, I’m not gonna send Kokichi home when it’s dark. Maybe he’ll be alright with staying the night?
“Hey Kokichi,”
“Yeah?”
“My sister isn’t coming over tonight, sorry about that. But since it’s already late you won’t mind staying the night, right?”
Kokichi looks at me nervously and hesitantly nods his head. I wonder how I could get him to not be uncomfortable around me, maybe offer to do something with him?
“You hungry? I can make you something.”
He just shook his head, “Mm, no I’m good.”
I then gave him a skeptical look, “You gotta be hungry, I noticed you didn't have lunch. And no offensive, you look extremely skinny. Like too skinny, like it’s unhealthy.”
Kokichi just looks down so I grab his hand and attempt to drag him to the kitchen, I noticed he wouldn’t move. I sigh before picking him up and as I expected he was extremely light. I then carry him down to the kitchen, I’m surprised that he isn’t trying to get out of my arms. I guess he’s scared of me dropping him? Once we get to the kitchen I sit him on the counter tops, I know I’m probably treating him like a child but I don’t want him running off or doing something stupid. God, now I’m acting like Shuichi, being overprotective over him..
“Do you like sushi?” I asked as I opened the fridge.
“I guess,” he mumbles out.
I just nod before getting all of the ingredients out I set them on the counter and begin making the food, 8 pm rolls around and I hear and car pull up in the driveway, it’s my mother’s. The door opens and my mother comes in she walks in the kitchen and sees me and Kokichi.
“Oh? You’re babysitting?” she asks.
I can see Kokichi’s eyes widen and quickly shakes his head.
“No, this is just a,” I pause for a moment, do I call him a friend? Or classmate? Screw it, I’ll say friend. “Friend from my class. He’s just a bit shorter than everyone else.” I say as I awkwardly laugh.
I glance over at Kokichi and see him glaring at me, he probably doesn’t like being called short. My mother just nods and walks up to her bedroom, probably to go to sleep, since she works late hours. I finished making the food and set everything up at the table, I help Kokichi off of the countertops and lead him to the table, he sits down and just stares at the food.
“Are you gonna eat it or admire it?” I laugh,
He looks at me wide-eyed and then soon calms down. “Why?” he finally says.
“Why what?” I asked confused.
“Why’re you being nice to me? You used to bully me and now we’re friends?”
Oh? So this is what that was about. “To be completely honest I only bullied you in Middle School because I thought it was cool, it really wasn’t but I grew up from that. And yeah I guess we’re friends, I mean if you’re friends with my sister we might as well get along.”
He just nods.
Not even five minutes go by and there’s a knock on the door, I tell Kokichi to just stay at the table while I answer. As I get up I see he turns around in his chair looking at the door. I open the door and see Shuichi.
