We continued to walk into the darkness for a while, now heading back to the plain. Once or twice there was one of them behind us, we just ignored them and kept walking. A huge mound of snow fell off one of the trees above us, hit another one on the way down, and kept domino-effecting down. We all looked up, but it was too late. We were underneath a twelve foot block of snow.
"Just kill me now." i thought. What else could go wrong. Luckily, I guess you could say, it's happened to us before. We were out in the woods one afternoon, carelessly messing around when some fell on us. Then it was only six feet, now it's twelve, at least. I started carving away at the top, knowing I have around 3 minutes to get out before my lungs collapse. Uh oh, this snow was too wet. Its sticky, and heavy. I tried my best to go fast, kicking my toes into the snow in front of me to make steps and clawing upward with my hands.
I made it out fine, then I looked around. Nobody else was here. That wasn't a good sign. Then I see a hand come out of the snow two feet to my left. I helped pull out Jeff and then we sat there. Waiting for Zoe. A minute passed then we started digging. Eventuallly we found her, almost dead from no air. We hauled her up and onto the top of the snow. We sat there again, again in silence. Jeff spoke up. "Well maybe if we stay up here they won't be able to reach us." I found weird, I responded, "No, they're twelve feet tall, and with those tentacles probably could rach 20 feet in the air.
We all slid down the side, and continued moving along the path that we had found earlier. Kept walking along the path, just like we used to do on those summer days. Not this deep in the woods of course, we made a whole path system through the first half mile or so. At this time, we were at least 2 miles in. It would be a long time before we could get back to the house, or the plain for that matter.
We kept walking though, not sure when we were going to reach the plain, not sure if we would ever make it home again for that matter. We kept walking our lonely little path through the trees. No sight of Slender Man, for now. We finally did get to the edge of the plain though. None of us said anything, we all knew we were only around a mile away from my house, and from there, another mile to the police station. Once we got back onto the streets, we could walk down the middle and try to make the view too public, hopefully they wouldn't want to risk getting discovered.
"Let's sit down a minute." I suggested. We were all more tired than you could ever imagine. We sat down right there in snow, our asses were already wet, so it didn't really matter. Oddly enough my torso wasn't wet at all, purely dry. I forgot how they blocked out the water.
I looked around, there 3 of them were. Standing at the edge of the trees. Thirty feet away. "Uh, guys..." I began. I pointed and they all looked. Simaltaniously we all stood up and ran. We ran about a fourth of the way across the plain, then the other two made an appearance. Chasing us backwards and to the side.
After a little while more of running, they had us circled. "This is it." I thought.
But then, they backed off. "What the hell..." Jeff spoke all of our thoughts. They disapeared into the night.
Thats when we heard the cracking sound, coming from beneath our feet.
