A TRIAL FOR THE BOOKS

Dumbledore woke me around 4 am in the morning. I almost walked him with my hand when I tried to go back to sleep. He wasn't having it. Pulled me straight out of bed and dragged me all the way downstairs.

"Eat and meet me in the sitting room by 4:30" he tells me before heading out and Kreacher comes in.

"You" he narrows his eyes.

"Me" I give him a dry smirk.

I catch him grumble something about serving a disgraceful bloodline. I can't understand him, as much as I try to. "What poisons have you cooked up to try to kill me with today?" I ask.

This is more or less kind of our own inside joke. When I first met Kreacher, the elf tried to poison Hermione and I with some stupid potion. Had Sirius not been around, I would be dead as he is right now. Bad joke Emma. But basically, he never tried to kill me again and I think we have some sort of relationship. Kreacher defiantly likes me more than Hermione, I can tell that much.

"Heard rumours that your favourite breakfast is waffles so I have poisonous blueberry waffles, enjoy mudblood" he grins and hands me a steaming hot plate.

I try to not flinch. Hate that word almost as much as I hate Malfoy. I partially miss our fights. Nope. Eat. I shake my head and dig in.

I have to say, these are some brilliantly made waffles. I stuff them in my mouth hastily. Since no one is around, I don't have to use my table manners. The house is oddly quiet. I mean it is early but I would assume someone other than old man and I would be awake.

"Hey Kreacher why is it so quiet?" I ask.

"Mistresses are asleep, wolf-man went out with duck-face girl" he points to different directions and then simultaneously continues to sweep.

I let out a small laugh at the names Kreacher came up with for Lupin and Tonks. "Do you know where Lupin and Tonks went?"

He looks up and glares at me for interrupting his work again. I shrug my shoulders and stuff another bite of my waffle into my mouth.

"Wolfie and Duckie were headed to the Ministry" he starts sweeping again but then pauses.

"Yes?" I ask, uncomfortable from the sudden look he has given me.

"Nothing, nothing" he leaves the room, leaving me alone.

I sigh and look down at my plate. Maybe he did actually poison this. I loose my appetite and decide to go to the sitting room. Hopefully Dumbledore will explain at least some of the many questions I have.

I knock on the door. "Come in" Dumbledore says. I walk in and take a seat. "Okay, let us get started shall we? We should be done in a few hours" he stands up and paces the room.

I play with the hem of my nightgown that Cat lent me. They are the closest in height to me and luckily she had an extra one. It is soft deep green silk. I study the stitches and the tiny details I missed before.

"Miss. Granger" Dumbledore adresses me.

I look up and my nightgown drops back onto my legs. "It is very important you pay attention, today, you are going to learn an alternative way of using magic, just incase you do end up loosing your wand" he says.

I can't tell wether he has faith in me or not. He doesn't seem to think I will get to keep my wand, but he seems so hopeful in teaching me this. I am overthinking too much again. So it begins, only god knows what is in store for me.

"Wake up, Miss. Granger wake up" I hear a voice say.

A large hand is shaking my shoulder. I slowly open my eyes and realise I am still in the sitting room. "You can take a break, that was much better than before" Dumbledore smiles as he helps me up.
