Chapter 6: What is wrong with me..?

Milly and her mother had run out of the house fast after the news. Milly couldn't believe what was said to her, she was scared and worried and just couldn't process the full situation. Her mother told her that her brother had gotten into a car accident while driving some of his classmates back to their homes, apparently, some guy was drunk while driving because he stayed at a bar all night and was finally kicked out; as the driver was going home, he fell asleep while behind the wheel and drove through a red light, slamming into Jack's car. Jack was sent to the hospital once the ambulance arrived with his friends, he was badly injured. As they got to the hospital, they quickly checked in and went to the room where Jack was staying. As they got to the room, they noticed a lot of doctors and nurses surrounding the area; as soon as Milly saw them, she was terrified about what was going to be said to them. "He might be dying like you were once," a voice started in her head, Milly wanted to block it out but she couldn't as it was loud and continued to speak. As the doctors and nurses moved away from the door, they pulled Olivia to the side and spoke to her in a low tone as they looked towards Milly at times. Milly sat on a chair outside of the room and waited, the more she waited, however, made her more worried than before. After a bit, Olivia pulled Milly to the side and got ready to enter the room, but Milly could see the struggle her mother was having as she held back her tears. They walked in.

When they walked in, they were greeted by the sight of Jack as he laid still on the hospital bed, his body covered from head to toe in bandages. The doctors had said that the glass shards and pieces of metal had stabbed into him badly during the accident, they had to perform surgery on Jack just to try and keep him alive. Olivia gasped and held her hand close to her mouth as she was stunned to see her darling boy hurt and not doing so well. Milly just stared at Jack as she was stunned and afraid, but for a split second, she thought she saw shadows form around the man as if ready to devour him. "Hey mom, Milly," Jack greeted plainly as he smiled but winced in pain, Milly went over to his left side and felt his hand gently as Olivia went to the right. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, Olivia told whoever it was to come in and it was shown to be Tom, Jay, Brian, and Kevin. Milly couldn't help but cry at the sight of them.

Milly ran over to Tom and hugged him tightly, Tom hugged back surprised but understood completely how she felt. "Glad to see you guys here," Milly said as she wiped her tears from her face. "You think we would miss seeing our buddy and his sister? No way, this is way too important! Way more important than anything!" Brian started as he went over to Jack, asking him questions on how he was feeling. Jack chuckled a bit and then started to cough, blood coming from his mouth a bit. Milly smelled the blood and turned her head away from Tom, staring at the blood coming from Jack's mouth. Milly ran to Jack's side fast and grabbed a tissue, wiping the blood from his mouth. Everyone went around Jack and they spoke for a while. Olivia knew this wouldn't last long, she was told that Jack didn't have very long to live and that if she saw any signs of him slipping that she was to make the visitors leave the room and tell the doctors. Milly had a bad feeling about Jack, she knew even before everything that he wasn't going to make it, and the wounds she saw were not helping her thoughts cease. What can be done? Milly wondered if maybe he could survive but it was highly unlikely, she didn't know how to explain it but she had a feeling that he wouldn't survive for long.

"Milly, I can see that frown," Jack spoke softly as he slightly looked over to his little sister, Milly jumped at the sound of his voice and looked into his eyes as they shined with so little light. Milly tried to smile but she couldn't as her heart felt dark inside, as though a shadow had closed around it and making sure she couldn't feel a thing except for misery and sadness. Milly finally broke free from the feeling and smiled at her brother, though he could tell that she could break down at any moment. Jack slowly reached over to his sister's face and cupped the right side of her cheek, trying to comfort her as much as he could without making himself in more pain than he already was. Olivia looked into Jack's eyes from where she was and noticed the slight build of tears as his eyes became somewhat glossy, she almost started crying just by the sight of those tears. "Jack, you-" Milly didn't know what to say as her words got choked up in her throat, she placed a hand on his own and gripped it hard, her tears suddenly falling down her face. Tom and the others watched and even started to slightly cry but tried to hide it to be strong for their friends. "You won't leave me, right?" Milly asked in a sad tone, she was choking on her sobs and couldn't control her shaking as her body started her twitches.
