Laying low only lasted a week. With Natasha on the west coast, Rose was left to explore New York and all its changes. But an urgent phone call from Fury called her back to California.

Rose met up with Fury, who was looking up at a man in red metal sitting in a donut.

"Tones wanna come join us," Rose called up, squinting through the sun. Tony looked down before pulling a face and flying down. The three sat down in a booth inside the shop.

"I told you, I'm not joining your super-secret boy band," started Tony, in between bites of his donut. His what?

"Oh no, I remember you work by yourself," responded Fury laughing, "How's that going for you?"
"It's," started Tony before pausing, "I'm sorry I don't want to get off on the wrong foot, do I look at the path of the eye? Actually, are you even real? I'm a little hungover."

"I assure you, I'm real. I'm the realest person you're going to meet," answered Fury, "That's not looking too good."

Rose followed his line of sight and saw the marks on Tony's neck.

"We've secured the perimeter, but we shouldn't hold it much longer," Nat stated, walking in. Tony's look of surprise almost matched that of Rose. So much for undercover.

"Tony, you know Agent Carter, but I'd like to formally introduce Agent Romanoff," laughed Fury, as Tony still looked at the redhead in shock.

"I'm a SHIELD shadow, I was asked to shadow to keep both you and Rose safe," Nat added, looking down at a tablet in her hands.

"I suggest you apologize," said Tony, still in awe.

"You've been very busy," interrupted Fury, trying to keep the conversation on track, "You made your girl your CEO, you're giving away your stuff, and you let your best friend have a suit."

"He took it," mumbled Tony, shame clear on his face.

"You let him take it tones!" yelled Rose. What had she missed since being in New York?

"What do you want Fury?" asked Tony. He was over the conversation, he felt how weak he was getting, knowing he needed to change out his neuron drive.

"No, it's what do you want from me? You've become a problem for me. And contrary to your belief, you're not the center of my universe. Stick him," said Fury, looking over to Natasha. She quickly walks over before Tony can process, and injects him with something. The substance causes the webbing in his veins to disappear. Rose froze when she saw that. Her eyes glossed over a little and she began to panic. Natasha saw the movements, and quickly pulled the girl away, sending a look to Fury to let him continue his conversation.

"Hey blondie, what's going on?" asked Natasha after sitting her friend in the kitchen of the restaurant. Sure, Rose had woken up from nightmares during the night, or dazed in the mornings, but this was new.

"Get away from me!" yelled Rose in German, taking herself by surprise. She never learned the language. But she focused on her fears at this point.

She was strapped to a table, scientists standing over her. She tried to fight, but the number of injections she had been given was making her drowsy, as her body felt like it was burning. She saw a vial that looked like the ones used on Steve.

'Super serum?' she thought. But how, it had been destroyed?

She saw another set of vials, holding a bright blue substance, almost like it was being lit from behind. She saw a short man, Zola, motion for those next.

"This will hurt dear Rose, but it will be worth it," Zola stated, standing over the girl. Rose tried to move her head, but she realized she was strapped to a machine.

"Besides fraulein, you won't remember a thing."

Rose came back from the memory and saw the red of Natasha's hair. While stuck in her head, she had been muttering the same string of words. Sunrise, silver, brunette, America, agent, flower, on repeat. Natasha had begun to say them with her, just loud enough to pull Rose from her memory.

"I'm sorry, I don't know what happened," said Rose, looking around her in confusion, "Where am I?"

"You're in a donut shop in Malibu," responded Natasha cautiously, "do you remember who I am?"

"You're..." Rose trailed off, trying to focus herself, "You're Natasha right? I live with you?"

"There ya go Blondie," Nat smiled at her, "do you remember Phil Coulson?"

"Yes, I think so"

"Ok, he's on his way to pick you up and bring you back to our house. Is that okay?"

"That's fine, he seems nice!"

Rose hopped off the table and walked to the front past a concerned Tony and Fury. They had been talking but rushed in when they heard screams. When the men reached the back, Natasha had been able to calm Rose down. Tony passed it off as a panic attack, but Fury saw more. He and Nat saw the bright blue in Rose's eyes when she was in a panic before it disappeared.
