The Quest

Take a breath,
Open my eyes,
There before me,
Does it lie.
I move away.
My eyes peeled wide,
It starts to move,
I give a cry,
Brandishing my mighty tool,
This foe is sure to look a fool.
I move away and check again,
Perhaps this quarry finds its end.
The beast hath been slain,
Crumpled is its corps,
It lay before my feet,
It was a spider.
Tonight I won't sleep.
