When you take words at face value,
You can make quite a few mistakes,
I once was told that fish could swim,
But mine would barely move,
I was once told that goats made cheese,
But all they've done is eat.
I thought one stone,
Could hit two birds,
But it flew straight in between,
And that with the correct toast,
I'd be eating with the queen.
But instead I've got a herd of goats,
I sometimes find them in my moat,
And since I do not own a boat,
They're quite hard to retrieve.
My stone didn't really hit its mark,
Or take out either lark,
So now I'm sat here in the park,
Talking to the trees.
Yes life is grim,
And rather dim,
When you don't believe,
But at the very least,
Your moat isn't full of bleating goats.
