Silver Ring

Tendou had never personally met Oikawa yet, but was determined to make it happen, seeing as though Ushijima was basically infatuated by him. Back in highschool, Oikawa always caught his eye, and Tendou made sure that his former captain knew he wasn't pleased with it. They kept their relationship a secret for a year, so at first the red haired male thought Ushijima was playing a long with it; he already had an eye out for Oikawa because of his skills.

Ushijima wanted Oikawa to go to Shiritorizawa with him because of how talented he was at the sport they shared the love for. The way his serves had a power to them when he hit the ball, Ushijima loved the challenge that Oikawa put in front of him. Tendou never gave him that challenge, he was always on the same team as him, and it gave Oikawa an obvious unfair advantage. When Tendou started to realize that Ushijima wasn't just playing along, he took immediate note of it and asked him about it.

His former captain always had a serious look to him, and Tendou knew his social cues weren't always in tip top shape. That being said, when the redhead shared his concern for Ushijimas growing infatuation with Oikawa, he shrugged it off and told Tendou that it was just pure admiration. He forgave him. He always forgave him because he believed he was simply overreacting and thought about it too much.

Keeping their relationship a secret for a year was more difficult than they expected. No getting to close with each other, they couldn't give each other their smile. Tendou had a smile he only gave to Ushijima, and when he started to realize that the taller male started mimicking it, he was ecstatic. It was their thing; an extremely cute one at that. Tendou always saw Ushijima as cute, even when they were younger.

Ushijima was the one person that was always there for him ever since he was bullied in elementary. They used to call him a freak and a monster. No one wanted to befriend him: they viewed him as scary and non approachable. Tendou always valued Ushijimas endearment towards him, it made him feel worthy of being cared about and being seen more as a person rather than a monster. Oikawas presence started to disturb that strong bond between the two, and Tendou started to become way more irritated.

There 3 year anniversary was tomorrow. He was planning something sweet. Really sweet. Tendou stared at the small velvet box that stood on his desk in their room. He reached over and ran his fingers over it before picking it up and examining it with his tired eyes. He had barely woken up and noticed that Ushijima was already gone, probably out to bring the redhead back a drink. A smile approached his lips while he opened the box to reveal a thick silver ring that had a small peridot gem in the center. His birthstone.

On the inside of the ring, it was Tendou's favorite nickname that he called his lover. The Miracle Boy.

He was a true miracle at that.

Tendou stared at the ring for a few more seconds, imagining what it would look like on Ushijima's finger. He closed the box and shoved it in one of the desk drawers before hearing the front door shut. The door of their bedroom opened and there came Ushijima with two cups of coffee in his hands. His expression stayed like always, a calm and stoic look, but Tendou knew he was happy to see him.

"Hey hey, how's my miracle boy doing? Good? I hope so!" Tendou's voice was cheerful as he walked over to the slightly taller male and took one of the drinks out of his hand. "Yes, I'm good." Ushijima mimicked the redheads smile, which he took immediate notice too and let out a light hearted laugh.

"You mimicking my smile is the best thing to ever exist, I swear to god Ushi." Tendou grabbed his hand and sat Ushijima down on the bed before resting his head on his shoulder. "Let's go out today, yeah? That'll be really fun. We don't go out together a lot.." The redhead sighed and looked up at Ushijima, who was conveniently already looking back. "That sounds good. I'm actually meeting up with Oikawa today."
