Cassandra spent the next 17 hours studying with Cho Chang and Addy or sleeping. Yes, the day to day work was tiring her out but the only thing that was keeping her going was the idea that she could go back to the secret cave.

Malfoy and Cass hadn't really talked much yesterday after he tried to kick her out but she was determined to find the cave again. She glanced at the clock, 11 am on a Saturday. Most students were leaving to Hogsmeade at this time, she hoped Malfoy would be one of them.

"Hey Cass we're heading to the three broomsticks, want to come?" Cho asked as she walked towards her friends, "I'm good thanks!" Cass smiled and quickly went to her dorm.

She changed into a pair of mom jeans and tight blue tang top with a white cardigan on top. She put her hair in a bun with a bandana tied in front and put on her white trainers. She grabbed a book and made her way to the forest.

Her walk was peaceful and quiet, the forest was one of the most relaxing places on the grounds. She made her way to the now familiar vine covered opening and sat next to the small lake.

The brunette noticed Draco had built a bench under a giant tree, she sat in it and began reading her book.

Vanity and pride are different things, though the words are often used synonymously. A person may be proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves, vanity to what we would have others-

"Pride and prejudice? Good choice." Malfoy said as he walked towards her.

He had been watching her read for the past seven minutes and didn't even feel guilt about it, she looked beautiful. There was something he found different about this girl he'd never noticed. But he didn't have time to think of girls, he had to focus on his task. He only came down to the secret cave for a little break.

"Yeah, it's my favorite. What are you doing here anyways? I thought you'd be in hogsmeade like most of the school." "My parents never signed my permission slip in third year." Cassandra look up at him and furrowed her eyebrows together, she was more than sure she'd seen him in the small village before.

"Theo used to sneak me in with some of Blaise and Pansy's help." He sighed and sat next to the brunette. "What do you mean used to?" "T-things have changed Danford. I've been.... busy." "Busy doing what?" This made him snap, "that's none of your business mudblood." He glared and she rolled her eyes.

"For the last time Malfoy, I'm a half blood." "Does it look like I give a fuck?" He spat and turned his attention to a small bird dipping itself into the small lake gracefully. "Why are you like that?" She broke the silence, maybe he could actually tell her things. Maybe she wouldn't make fun of him for not wanting to play exploding snaps and "studying" instead like his friends did, after all she wasn't a Slytherin pure blood.

"Like what?" His gaze met hers, "cold." She responded flatly. The way the word rolled off her young's made Draco... feel something. Something strange, it was an unknown feeling, the feeling of concern. The only person who had ever felt like that for him was his mother, and even then it wasn't this kind of concern.

"Some people just don't deserve my attention." Malfoy replied after taking a few moments to form the proper words. "So your saying no one deserves your attention?" He faced the girl who looked deep in thought, "you said some people but you speak like that with everyone." No wonder this girl was a Ravenclaw, she noticed things. Small but beneficial things she could use in the future for her own good, kind of like blackmail.

"Well I have to keep up a good image for my family name." Draco muttered and turned his attention away from the blue eyed girl in front of him, she was staring into his soul as if she was trying to figure him out.

Draco could tell that she was watching him and it didn't bother him as much as he thought it would. It felt strangely calming to him, having Cassandra watch him. "Y'know you can tell me things right? I won't tell anyone." Cass assured him but the blondes heart was set on not telling a single soul.

"Why are you here anyways?" He changed the subject. "Oh well I wasn't in the mood to go into town today and this place in quite pleasant, even if your here." He chuckled lowly at her comment and Cass smiled, she'd never heard Draco laugh genuinely.

"I made the Draco Malfoy laugh? What an honor." "Oh don't think too highly of yourself." He tried not to smiled but failed as he heard her giggle, it was one of the cutest things he had ever heard.

She stood up and took a look at the giant tree she was just sat under. "This wouldn't be a bad spot for a tree house." Malfoy stands up and stood next to Cass. He looked up and noticed a small space in the tree that would be perfect for a for a little tree house.

She wasn't wrong, and Malfoy knew that. There was an emptiness to the tree where no branches stood and no leaves fell leaving room for a wood built structure Draco could already imagine himself building.

"Your right, Danford." That was the first time Malfoy had ever said her name without digust and it made her heart flutter, he's warming up to me, she thought.
