Solace

These grey cast skies, the whining
wind
Mourn your loss with the people
you've known
Bury your regrets, the scars 6 feet
deep
As if you wished for it with a smile
forlorn
That raging maelstrom, the dim lit
room
Couldn't bear your soul brighter than
the sun
Praised your sacrifice, led you to edge
of cliff
But they weep your glory, for now it's
their turn
Then came the twist, the daunting
night
Bared its fangs, you weren't left
with a choice
Survival was a must and the cost too high
So you became a savior of the dawn
which will rise
Now the empty streets, the amber
leaves
Remind the grief to the people you've
known
May you find solace, the peace you
desired
And I'd go back in time in the memory
lane I loved..

P.S. This is little different from my other poems. Here I wanted to write about a friend who was made a scapegoat by the 'people' and I couldn't be there to help. It was really frustrating. Hopefully I'll find a better way to deal with such situations.
