"HOLD ON!"
The pilot leaped forward onto Alex, pushing him against the seat he was in and against the wall.
Alex heard a click, looked down, and saw that the pilot had put a seatbelt on him.
Then the explosion hit.
A bright orange and yellow wall of flames rushed through the interior of the ship in front of Alex in less than a second. He saw only brightness, and felt only heat. Alex's ears instantly began to hurt and all he heard were muffled sounds and ringing.
He saw the figure of someone's body fly in front of him, and then felt gravity takes it's action and pull them down.
The whole aircraft shook violently as it erupted in flames and spiraled downward. Glass, metal, and blood flew around making the spaceship a blurred mess.
Alex put his arms up as millions of tiny pieces of glass rushed towards him in a flurry of scratches. He then felt himself float into the air slowly.
Then they hit the water in a large splash followed by someone's grunts.
Alex slammed down into his seat and hit his head on some metal object near him. Water seemed to be rushing in from all around and before Alex even realized it, he was knee deep in water.
He had to escape quickly.
Alex dizzily looked down and fumbled with the seatbelt.
The water was now to his waist.
He tugged at it and pressed the button to un-click it but it wouldn't budge.
Lightning flashed.
The water was now to his chest.
Alex exhaled and pulled as hard as he could until finally the seatbelt unlocked itself.
The water was now to his chin.
He pushed off with his feet into the water, and took a deep breath.
Alex held his breath and went underwater frantically searching for a way out.
Bubbles escaped from his mouth and nose as he saw the blast hole in the ship. He thrusted himself forward with all his might, hoping to free himself of this watery grave but he felt the last bit of air escape him.
Alex slowly flailed around trying to get out, and felt water fill up his lungs.
In the darkness of the night he felt something grab his shirt and tug him.
As Alex looked over, lightning flashed and he could see that a person was swimming and carrying him through the hole in the ship.
Then his eyes closed and consciousness escaped him.
