Alex sat up,
"Um... what?"
The boy sighed, "This place is called Dead Bolt. It's a massive prison used to interrogate and execute those of us with attributes."
Alex raised his eyebrows,
"But, I'm not gifted with any powers."
The boy shifted into the light more and Alex noticed he had light brown hair, blue eyes, and looked around 15 years old.
"Listen, the name's Mike by the way, but everyone put in here has Attributes, there's no mistake to that, you have some kind of power."
Mike cocked his head slightly,
"You don't know your powers, do you?"
Alex looked at his feet,
"Well, I didn't know I was special in any way, but when I was trying to help my sister before this, I just," Alex shuffled his weight from his left foot to his right,
"I felt this build-up of anger and... power.... I just released it somehow and then I blacked-out."
Mike shook his head, "I understand."
Alex scratched the back of his head and said, "Well what's your power?"
"Well these cells have Transcapacitating modules which limit our ability to use our attributes, but, if we ever get out of here I can show ya. Now, no more questions, I'm going to sleep." He walked back into the dark corner of his cell and lay down on the cold floor.
Alex turned towards the darker part of his cell, but he saw... green eyes? Green eyes peering at him from the darkness of the cell.
"Hello? Who's there?"
Alex took a step back as the figure seemed to get taller, as if it had just stood up, maybe 5 inches taller than him. Then a tan-colored hand shout out from the darkness and Alex shielded his face with his arm.
When he noticed he wasn't hit with anything and took his hands down and saw the hand just floating in mid-air.
"Hi, I'm Gavin."
Out from the shadows walked a taller boy probably around the age of 16 or 17.
"H-hi, I'm Alex, nice to meet you Gavin."
"Haha!" Gavin reached down and grabbed Alex's hand, only to vigorously shake it.
"Come back in the shadows if you want to sleep! There is one mattress on the ground, but we can take turns sleeping."
Alex looked into the darkness and saw an old mattress "Oh, well thank you."
"Of course, my friend, anytime."
Just as Gavin playfully slapped Alex on the back, a lot of rumbling was heard but could not be seen.
Alex went over to the bars and looked down the hall in between cells, towards large double-doors.
The rumbling got louder and soon gunfire could be heard.
Alex noticed Gavin and Mike were up and trying to see as well.
"What's going on?" Alex asked towards Mike.
"How would I freaking know."
Just as Mike finished his sentence, the double doors burst wide open and people dressed in green, with a metallic object on their back, holding assault rifles came barging through.
One of the people came forward and Alex noticed he had a mustache, was hispanic, and was a bit shorter than the others. But unlike the others, he had a hat instead of a helmet, and a pistol instead of a rifle.
"Ay! We are part of the rebellion and we're going to get you boys out of here." He waved towards the bars of Alex and Gavin's cell, and a pale man ran up, wielding a large gun tubed-shaped gun.
"Stand back."
He pulled the trigger of the awkwardly shaped gun, and a white, narrow flame came out. The man pulled the gun in a circular motion, cutting the bars with the flames.
Before he knew it, there was a wide, open circle in the bars, and the man went to do the same to Mike's cell.
As soon as Alex stepped out, the doors opposite the ones the rebels came from, blew open, knocking the doors off their hinges and flying onto the ground.
Around 20 Imperial soldiers, dressed the same as the guards in Alex's town, came marching through wielding long rifles. The first Imperial stood in front of the others and his voice boomed, "Imperials! Charge!!"
All the imperials started sprinting towards the people who had just saved them and almost immediately, the room exploded in gunfight and shouts.
The Hispanic officer grabbed Alex on his right shoulder, "I'm going to send you three with three of my soldiers to get the hell out of here."
Alex barely could process what he said before the officer shoved him away and began shooting towards the Imperials.
Alex stood by Gavin and Mike until three soldiers ran over to them and led them out of that hallway. Two males, and a female soldier, each holding rifles like the rest of them.
Alex felt so weak, he could barely keep up with the other five running down the hall ahead of him.
Then they came to a stop around the corner, and each of the silent soldiers took a silver pistol from their belt, and handed it to each of the boys.
Alex held a pistol, and he had never held one before. The female soldier stepped out around the corner and began firing at something they couldn't yet see.
Then in a small fiery burst, a fast bullet exploded in her chest and she flew backwards onto her back.
