Empty streets lit with dim lights, looming over bodies and crime alike. With a flicker of fire, it rages over the aroma of raw blood, sprinkling a gust of iron and a lingering warmth. The silence enveloped the night as the stars and moon glowed beyond what the flames could muster, the blue silver light casting over the scene. It doesn't stop, an empty gaze locked on the street with a vivid memory. The moon knows what had happened, and knows fully well that this wasn't the first of many massacres.
On the hard concrete that was painted with red, a woman stood without much surprise. Her irises that was shadowed glistened from a sin she cannot take back, swallowing the lump of fondness layered within a set of pleasure. With lips so vibrantly red like the pool she caused, a knowing smile stretched from a frown. Satisfaction was still not reached despite the flames that had engulfed the puppet-like bodies that littered the dim street like cockroaches, the scent of decay still not reaching her nose.
But perhaps it was because her true enemy that was not dead, and because she knows it was impossible to kill him. The flush of her cheeks gave away the fear hidden beneath masks and skimpy clothing, a pink truth settled in lies she spat. But even with a voice so alluring and so convincing, she could not fathom to change the way she looked at him -the way any girl would. A mask was made to stop that feeling grow, but even the silky material that covered her face cannot cover what she had felt in her pumping muscle every one called a 'heart.' Her skin reacted with his violent touch, his mark left a bitter longing outside of a war they had created, and this was all because of a simple oath.
Her eyes sees nothing but him, his figure detached from a sin he committed. But she does not cower, for the fact that they were now even. He stood across from her, delicate brunette locks contrasted with the way his eyes roamed her form. Just like her, no fear presented itself. It was as if two bodies turned into stone, movements terribly still that you could almost hear the hitch of their breath against the cold chilly air. The night howling with a poisonous declaration of promises, a familiar loom was once held in a nostalgic memory.
"It's only the two of us, between flames of the people who we used to work with. Do you not have any remorse for your members?" The man's voice was raspy yet he held back a bitter sigh.
"Like you said, I worked with them. Just because I was in their gang doesn't mean I cared for their lives. And if I may, you too, seem to disregard your own members. They are dead by my hands. Why are you not mad? Or are you just simply unsympathetic, Naib Subedar?" You said, jeweled hands trailing down to your thigh. It wasn't a secret what hid behind a luxury velvet dress, a firearm? A sharp blade? Evidently it was both.
He scoffed, tilting his head to the side. "I'm not playing your games. It's either you surrender now or I'll-"
"Or what? Punish me? Oh please do, life has been boring lately and I need something to spice it up." You coed, lavishing the flustered face of your rival. It was truly a sight to see, his ears turning a slight shade of pink while the rest of his face pale as snow. He surely is an interesting specimen. Even as an adult, he had always been the same boy you had grown to care for. Even if his hands were rough and his heart tainted with ink, you were still able to push buttons similar to those of a mere child.
"Shut up! I don't have time to play games with the likes of you!" He aimed his gun directly at your head. But even with the barrel facing towards you, you refused to cower away. Tense as ever, Naib's hands started to sweat as the thought of pulling the trigger on you clouded his mind. His finger was barely close to the hook, hesitant to unleash the bullet. With a simple pull, it would be over - but so would this meaningless game too.
