When Patti woke up, she realized the room was dark. She raised herself on one elbow and blinked her eyes. Then she saw a small trickle of light coming from behind heavy curtains. She wanted to get up to reveal them and let some life in when she felt something blocking her waist. She turned on the lamp on the bedside table and saw that Elvis was holding her possessively and snoring loudly.
He's going to be tired after that, Patti thought, amused, and gently removed his hand. Then she got up and opened one of the curtains. The bedroom immediately became bright and pleasant. Then she heard Elvis moan loudly.
—No — he muttered and put the pillow over his face. — Cover it.
— Elvis, it's already morning — she began, and then she glanced at the clock on the wall. —Jesus, it's 10am. So we slept ...
—Close that window, Patricia — Elvis hissed, which surprised her. — I still want to sleep ...
Patti was surprised by his tone. This is the first time Elvis has been so unpleasant to her.
—Maybe you should get up ...— she began, and then unexpectedly threw a pillow at her, which bounced off her knees and landed on the floor. Patti was shocked as he stood up and pulled the curtain sharply closed.
—If I say I want to sleep, that's the way it is — Elvis said imperiously and lay back down. — And come to me.
Patti was offended and disobeyed him. She walked towards the door, he said:
— Seriously? I instructed you and are you sulking? Besides, what will it look like? You know, you get out of here in that outfit.
Patti was wearing a black strappy nightgown, a little too bold to show off to the household. The bedside lamp was still on and its yellow light fell on Elvis's face. He was disheveled and his expression firm.
Patti stared at him sternly, and he held out his hand to her.
— Come on. Sweetheart...
Then he got up and walked over to her. Patti didn't move and he explained:
—Let's lie a little longer, little Patti. I'll explain something to you.
— Explain what? — she asked quietly — That the stupid opening up of the window made you angry?
— You don't know why — Elvis sighed and gently pushed her towards the bed. —It's a longer story.
Patti lay down and he lay down beside her. He hugged her and kissed her shoulder.
—Sorry — he whispered fondly. —But a good night's sleep is a luxury for me.
—Why?— Patti looked at him. — Are you having trouble sleeping due to work stress?
— If it were so, it could be solved somehow. Such problems are temporary — he croaked. — I am worse ... I suffer from chronic insomnia and even medications do not help me.
—Medicines?— Patti frowned. — I think you wanted to say medicine ...
—I'm taking two medications — Elvis muttered and ran a finger over her mouth. —They used to help me, and now they don't. I need to talk to my doctor, maybe I need something else. After all, pharmaceuticals go ahead, by the way ... everything is fine, honey.
—Maybe you're not getting enough rest — Patti suggested, and he kissed her passionately on the lips. Then he looked at her and said softly:
— You give me the best rest in my life. My insomnia is a longer problem and don't worry about it. Somehow I manage. And again, sorry for the anger attack, sometimes I'm nervous.
