We Where losing ground, the un-ending advance of terenian assault troops had become a flood. Without proper support, we would lose our foothold, and likely the battle entirely.

The battle in low orbit raged on, cruisers, flitting to and fro, firing bursts from their autocannons, Battleships broadsiding eachother in a desperate bid to decrease the enemy's fleet, and destroyers, the titans of the battle, their gargantuam guns obliterating all but ships of similar size in one shot.

I glanced around the bridge of Wings Of Harmony, we could not sustain such huge military action, and the terenian forces where unknown to us. How vast where their forces? thousands of ships? tens of thousands? hundreds? the possible size of their fleet was staggering, and it was only through the constant excitement and danger of battle that i was able to avoid the fear that all might be in vain.

The Entry doors at the rear of the bridge slid open, hearing footsteps approaching, i turned to face them. K'tan stood in the middle of the bridge, taking in the sight of the vast conflict, the officers at their stations, and the eerie quiet of the most excited place on the ship, every crewmember quietly enacting their duty with minimal speech.

" we can't hold for much longer, Atatra, the Serethians have very little that is capable of SSTO flight, let alone intersteller with weapons." k'tan's brow was furrowed, a look of deep concern gracing her features. " there won't be any releif force coming, we're outnumbered, and as you can see, our only advantage would appear to lie in our experience with this kind of battleground."

As K'tan turned towards the door again, i had a sudden sense of fear, as if something terrible was about to happen. Gasping for breath, i fell to my knees, and suddenly, a gigantic red flash bathed the battlefield as something jumped in. for the next few seconds, we saw nothing. Sensors couldn't pick up any objects, we couldn't see anything. But we wheren't thinking big enough. all of a sudden, a red beam evaporated a Skyguard Destroyer, existing for no more than a few seconds, yet leaving no trace. At this, a huge red hole in space opened, a gigantic Red eye...

The overlord had arrived

The Overlord, an unfathomable huge mothership, larger than a sun, with a living core. Capable of patrolling entire galaxies, evaporating entire planets with a single beam.

I recoiled in terror, as i realised the scale of what we where seeing. The planet itself was within the claws of the overlord, all would seem to be lost.

Skyguard forces began to withdraw, landing entire battleships to recover our troops, all with the constant flood of cruisers, battlecruisers and fighters, only held off by our own fighters and AA turrets.

But fate was not as cruel as we had begun to assume. As the first of the skyguard ships began to jump out, yet another sun-sized signature jumped in, but this one was different.

This one i recognized.

This one was protecting us...
