USC- Sophmore Year

"Hey, how's girl's night in?"

Chaeyoung laughed with the shake of her head. "You know you could have come right, Jennie is here."

"You needed girl time, away from your girlfriend. I had dinner with my parents and now I'm relaxing in the hot tub." A pause. "Don't squint your eyes at me Park, you have your own hot tub."

"But it doesn't have you in it."

"Always such a flirt." They both laughed.

Chaeyoung's cheeks hurt from smiling so hard and it had only been about 24 hours since she had seen her girlfriend. "You're my favorite."

"Your favorite what?"

Chaeyoung thought about how to respond for a second. "Person, you're my favorite person Lisa Manoban."

"You're my favorite person too Chaeyoung Park." Chaeyoung closed her eyes at the sincerity in Lisa's voice. She never would have thought that she would be so in love anyone. She was certain that the kind of love you read about in books and love poems, was entirely fictional. Then her and Lisa started hanging out more and more and now a year into their relationship she was starting to think that maybe that kind of love was entirely real. "While we're on the subject, I have a question to ask you."

Chaeyoung waiting a second before answering. "Okay, should I be worried?"

"It depends, how do you feel about dressing up like a princess and sitting through a really boring dinner?"

"The dressing up part sounds fun and the other part could be if dinner means what it's supposed and there is food involved."

Lisa nodded to the stars above her. "Lots of food." A pause. "Will you go to the Manoban Group Gala with me?"

"As in the biggest party of the year?"

Chaeyoung heard Lisa let out a soft chuckle. "Yes, that's the one."

"I would love to, but I have to be home before midnight or my carriage will turn back into a pumpkin." Silence. "Stop shaking your head at me."

"You need to stop watching so many Disney movies but as you wish. Now go back to hanging out with Jisoo before she kills me."

"Okay, I'll see you tomorrow for brunch?"

"Absolutely. Goodnight, I love you."

Jisoo stood with her arms crossed, leaning on the doorframe. "I love you, sweet dreams." Chaeyoung grinned from ear to ear getting an eye roll from Jisoo as she hung up the phone. "What?"

"Nothing, nothing. I'm just glad I survived all of high school without the sap fest that is you two."

Chaeyoung let out a laugh. "Yeah because me and the playgirl would have been like this in high school."

"It was two years ago."

Chaeyoung shook her head. "Still, people change a lot the moment they step foot out of the confines of a high school. College is about finding yourself and becoming you want to be, not the person you think you have to be."

Jisoo raised an eyebrow. "So you think Lis was a player because she thought she had to be?"

Chaeyoung rolled her eyes. "No, she's just matured."

"She's always been way too damn mature." They both laughed at the truth in Jisoo's statement. "She's not coming over?"

"Nope, I'm all yours tonight."
