Cailyn pov:
I woke up to the loud ringing of some or other alarm. I pulled the blankets over my head trying to at least deafen the irritating noise.
"Cailyn. Cailyn! CAILYN!" Samantha yelled in my ear "Noooooo." I whined.
"C'mon we have to go get breakfast, than it's class." I climbed out from my blanket cocoon."What do we even learn about?" I asked throwing a pillow at her. She caught it "A lot of it is just basic life skills and survival tactics." She said shrugging.
I nodded slowly and rubbed the sleep out of my eyes "Ok, that doesn't sound too bad. Do we do any outside activities?" I asked as I started picking out some clothes to wear.
"Stuff like canoeing, swimming, sometimes even rock climbing." She said also picking out some clothes.
"You've been coming here for like years, right? You must be like a master at everything." I said as I started to strip with my back facing her.
"You'd think so, wouldn't you?" She said laughing.
We both got dressed and headed to the little mini out door cafeteria and after another 10 minutes of walking, we arrived.
The strange thing was even though I was here since yesterday, some people still crowded around and asked me a thew questions.
I was new I guess, but did they really not notice me yesterday? Ouch.
Me and Samantha sat down, at a bench that was an okay condition "Hey, I have a quick question. Did you have people to hang with in the previous camps?" I asked as I saw today we were only the two again.
Not like I tried to make any new friends. Samantha was cool.
"Uh yeah, I did. They're just not here this year." She said casually "It's probably good I'm here then." I joked. Samantha rolled her eyes "I think I'd be okay."
Sarcastically I put a hand over my hear, pretending to be hurt "Do I mean nothing to you, Samantha? I really thought we've bonded over these last 24 hours." I said in a dramatic tone.
I shook my head, "But alas, it seems as though we've made no progress. I shall leave." I said and stood up, but she yanked me back down again.
"Stop being such a drama queen." She said letting go of my wrist again.
"You abuse me."
We both stood up as soon as it was announced that our breakfast was ready. We got some trays and both got in line.
When we sat down again I looked over at the bench where Ace sat last time. He wasn't there.
I looked for him among where everybody else was sitting, but he was no where to be found.
I had a feeling he was getting into trouble.
Samantha seemed to notice, but just sighed at my behavior,
"You get easily attached." She said laughing a bit with her statement.
I sucked my teeth "Yeah... Kinda."
We both packed our trays full of scrambled eggs. I took a bite of my eggs but cringed at how dry they were. I put a hand over my mouth as I coughed.
"Who is the cook?" I asked my eyes tearing from my coughing fit, "Scrambled eggs are supposed to be moist."
(A/n if you're one of those that go crazy when people say moist...
Just stfu moist is literally just an adjective.
Also ✨MOIST✨)I basically drowned my eggs in ketchup just so I could SWALLOW it.
