In the end, I figured that a simple pasta would work along with some sort of lettuce-looking vegetable hopefully standing in as a salad side dish. The difference of ingredients in hell made cooking a bit different from our average experience back on earth. It was hard to distinguish what anything was even for without tasting it first. One was bitter, another was sour with a lemon-like taste, and some looked like fruit but had a burning hot taste when you bit into them. The last ingredient was absolutely sinister, so I nicknamed it 'Devil's apple' which I thought was quite smart.

I picked up two warm plates of food and carried them to the dining room, setting them down in each spot until all seven spots were filled, just enough for us all. Husk, Nifty, Angel, Alastor, Charlie, Vaggie and lastly me near the end. Charlie was seated at the head of the table, with Vaggie on her right and Nifty on her left. Alastor sat next to nifty, I was next to Vaggie, and Angel sat after me. That left Husk next to where Alastor was.

I went back and forth from the kitchen to the table, setting down plates and cutlery until the table was perfectly set. Satisfied, I looked towards the deep red walls and up towards the clock. It was nearing dinner time and so everyone would be taking their seats soon.

Taking my seat at the table, I tapped my fingers rhythmically on the table. My mind wandered around in it's little cage and brought me to think about my life on earth...and all the murders I committed. It would be extremely awkward if I came across one of my victims here in hell... just imagine that conversation!

"So, how'd you die?"

"I got stabbed with a pen by some radio host... How'd you end up in hell?"

"Ahah...hahahaaa... I was a radio host who murdered people... with pens..."

"oh I see.... hey wait HOLD ON-"

... Eugh- I got shivers just from imagining it. I don't feel that much resentment for killing them, but it really would be a mess if I came across them, don't you agree? How exactly would you handle such a situation. You're sitting in front of the person who ended your life, and they don't feel any sort of shame... What exactly would I do?

"Right well... oopsie-" And force an apologetic grin? Gosh, what a catastrophe that would be.

As I was deep in thought of this chaotic little scenario, the first person entered the dining room; Charlie! I shook my head to cast the clouded thoughts aside and gave her a smile and a light wave. She sent back an even brighter smile along with a much more energetic wave. Swiftly she slid into her seat, and let out a small gasp as she saw the food laid along the table.

Worried, I jolted, "What? Is the food okay? I really tried my best I practically didn't know what I was doing-"

"WOW!" Bewildered, she exclaimed joyfully and stopped me off mid-sentence. "This is... Wonderful!! I haven't seen food this beautifully prepared since I was visiting my parents!! I have to admit I got a liiiiittle worried about you since I left you without any guides on how to cook heheh... that's my fault-" Her voice swung back and forth between excitement and idle comments. It was amusing to watch her moving about so full of energy.

I reassured her, it was hardly her fault and I managed okay... mostly. We chatted about how the hotel works and her goals for about 10 minutes, then Husk, Angel and Nifty walked in all together. Husk had a bottle of beer in his right hand, Angel was practically clinging onto him for attention but gave up as soon as he saw the food. Nifty just stared at them both as they strolled in, then zipped into her chair and sat patiently swinging her small legs back and forth waiting to start the meal.

We all talked about what we did today, but it was mostly Charles and Angel leading the conversation, going back and forth about all sorts of eccentric things; Half of which I barely understood. Vaggie wandered into the room next, gave Charlie a hug and promptly sat down at her seat. She would butt into Angels convos pointing out stuff he shouldn't be doing, or giving a defeated sigh. Now, we were all waiting for Alastor to finally show up.

Then, he stepped into the dining room with his iconic toothy grin on his face, and upright posture, "Good evening ladies and gentleman and creatures alike! Apologies to keep you waiting, I had some unexpected business to handle~"

I saw his hand retreat to the side of his jacket, and wipe a red substance off his hands. Blood?

My eyes were focused on his hands until he continued to speak, "My! What an amazing meal you've prepared, y/n!" This snapped me from my trance and caused me to look up at him.

"Thank you, it's appreciated!" I smiled, giving him a nod. Everyone sat still in silence for a little bit for an unknown reason.

"OH COME ON ALREADY! I'M STARVIN' HERE, DAMN!" Angel cried out, banging his fists on the table impatiently. Alastor flinched ever so slightly at Angel's brash actions and looked at him with an aura of irritation. He kept his smile stretched across his face though. He took his seat across me, and we all started eating.

Charlie and Vaggie talked to each other between bites of food, Nifty enjoyed her food silently with a satisfied look on her face, Angel pestered Husk who kept shaking him off and muttering curses under his breath. Then there was Alastor. He kept his eyes locked on me, with every few movements. I cleared my throat from confusion and embarrassment, I didn't know why he was even looking at me in the first place.

I took a deep breath and muttered out, "Alastor? Something the matter?"

His smile changed in a way as if it went from resting, to pleased. He melodically replied, "Oh absolutely not dear, I just simply admire your talent for cooking. That is all!" My face was still twisted with discomfort, but my cheeks dusted a light pink unconsciously.

This man is somehow too nice... It's like he has an ulterior motive of some sort...
