The flight was only 7 and a half hours long, nothing like the trip from Tennessee to New York which was more than double.

The flight was a morning one, around 6.30, much earlier than I would usually be awake; I slept for around 2 hours on the plane.

Rose didn't.

She sat staring out of the window until I had the energy to make conversation.

She was nervous.

We spent the rest of the hours either laughing, listening to her recite her favourite poems or playing an occasional game of speed chess.

It wasn't long before I felt the plane hit the rain stained tarmac of Paris, I had never felt a plane land before, it was scary.

I gripped onto Rose like a scared child; she found it hilarious.

I walked slowly out of the plane and down the stairs with Rose by my side, it took me a few steps to regain balance after being sat down for so long.

The dewy morning air filled my lungs reminding me of walking to school early  back home when I was a teenager- through the park, over the broken wall and through the graveyard.

The golden sun which reduced to a washed pale yellow glinted meekly from behind large suffocating clouds leaving only shadows of sunlight floating down through the atmosphere.

Through the drained morning I saw a flash of blinding light burrow into my pupil waking me up from my still morning. I now saw why celebrities wore sunglasses everywhere; the Paparazzi.

Paris fashion week didn't start until the next day and even thought it may have been 2pm back in New York the day was just beginning to start to reach its zenith.

-

Rose just wanted to do something fun for the day until she had to worry about tomorrow and I thought it would be good to take her mind off of things for a while.

And what does one do in Paris, visit the Eiffel Tower!

-
It was funny, I thought, Paris was supposed to be the city of love but yet I didn't even have enough courage to tell the most amazing person I had met that I had feelings for her. It was like I was hiding all of my overflowing love behind the worlds biggest dam, all my infatuations carefully and messily bundled behind layers of hurt and longing.

-

It was much larger than I had anticipated, definitely much taller than lady Liberty who I had seen while I first arrived in New York. It's long metal frames stretched out in all directions, it felt almost foreboding looking down at me.

"It's kinda, scary, dont ya think?" I said as we both stared up at it "like it could fall on me at any moment"

She laughed at me "ok, a plane I could understand, but the Eiffel Tower" her laugh  made me ecstatic, it was like angelic music "you really are scared of everything aren't you?" She shook her head still laughing.

A menacing look appeared on her face "let's see about your fear of heights"
-

I stood staring out at the rooftops of Paris, shaking.

I shook but not because of the weather but because I was terrified.

"Look your fine, your safe, look at all the people below us" she pointed down, they looked like tiny little ants.
