Shyka Academy is globally known for raising some of the most successful humans in history, with entrance exams that took months of studying to prepare for. But with fame and popularity comes rumors. None of the rumors of this school have ever been addressed by the staff or taken seriously, but what if I told you that they should be?
One day, a rumor suddenly stopped being spread around for unknown reasons. It was dark and seemed very likely that it could be true, even though it was very bizarre.
The rumor was about five mysterious students who had been sent to the basement of the school, an area that they didn't know existed, but the principal for some files they needed to look over. The students' identities were unknown, and they weren't popular at all. They were sent to an elevator that had a button to go down to the basement, but they had never seen it before. Everyday, they traveled to class together through the elevator they were sent to because the stairs were tiring and took a while to walk up. It was almost as if the button had just been installed on the panel below the rest so that they could get the files for the principal.
Once they got to the basement, they heard a loud sound come from the elevator. All of the five students ignored it and turned on the lights for the basement. When the lights first flickered with power, they observed how old and creepy it looked. There was dust everywhere, scary bugs crawling on the walls, glass on the floor, and cabinets of folders and papers as far as their eyes could see. They decided to split up to find the files that the principal had asked for.
The first student looked through the category of cabinets filed as "A-G." They opened each drawer one by one and scrolled through the dividers labeled with a white sticker that described what letter each file started with. As the student flipped through each file and each drawer filled to the brim with them, they started to notice more and more bugs on the walls as they examined each drawer. Filled with fear, they began to quickly look through the folders without fully looking at their titles and the amount of bugs of the wall surrounding them increased more and more. When they finally got the file they needed, the bugs had swarmed the innocent student. With a scream echoing the halls of file filled cabinets, they were eaten alive by the bugs that haunted them as they searched for the single file they were searching for.
The second student looked through the category of cabinets filed as "H-M." This aisle of files were not just papers in folders, they were actually shelves of books. The covers were all blue leather that had gotten dirty over the years. The lettering on all of them was also a rough gold that had lost its shine over time. They walked down the row and read each tattered spine of the books put neatly onto the shelf, examining each one for the title they were looking carefully for. As they made their way further down, they found a book that was pulled out an inch or so from the other books. Curious, they took out the book. When they opened the book to learn the contents inside, they felt something at their feet. Then, something rough grabbed their feet tightly and slowly dragged them, causing the second student to drop the cryptid book that they were holding in their hands and were never seen again.
The third student looked through the category of cabinets filed as "N-S." This aisle was different from the first two. It was filled with boxes of letters and papers scattered on the floor, making it impossible for them to look for what they were searching for. They didn't look very hard since they weren't the most determined to look for it and was forced to come anyways. All of the envelopes had dirt and various stains on them, most were sealed with blue wax that had an imprint of a face on it. They weren't very scared of the atmosphere, but wanted to hurry so that they could get back to their dorm in time to get ready for a date they had planned. Eventually, they found a letter with a strange envelope. It was black with a wax seal of blue and yellow. There was no imprint on the wax. The third student open the letter to find a blood stain, which would soon become their own on a scythe that sliced them in half from behind.
The fourth student looked through the category of cabinets filed as "T-Y." This column didn't even contain anything, it was just two brick walls that had been painted black. The whole time they walked down the aisle, they stared at the ground with their hands in the pockets of their uniform. Their chest started to feel a strange pain and it was getting harder to breath. Their eyes were kept on the ground, they ignored everything around them and kept walking forward. But something was pushing them to go faster, it was pushing them to escape. Their feet started to go faster, and faster, and faster. Soon they were running down the hall for no reason other than a gut feeling. It became harder and harder to breath as they quickly ran down the aisle. Once the fourth student ran out of breath and stopped, they finally looked up. Right in front of them was a strange figure staring right into their eyes and the student collapsed onto the hard floor.
The fifth student looked through the category of cabinets filed as "Z." Without even walking down the aisle of files, they pulled out a knife and stabbed themself because they were driven to by an unknown source.
The sixth student never existed.
