I never knew where I was going, but I knew I had to get myself as far away from that hall as possible. My head throbbed as I turned numerous corners and climbed flights of stairs, travelling deeper into this mysterious building.
The corridors were all painted white, making it impossible to know my way back to my dorm. That was where I thought I'd be better off. I tried going back the way I came, the task was tough considering all the halls looked identical. I turned a corner and saw a boy with dirty blonde hair at the end of a narrow corridor. "Hello!" I called, my head hurt, and spun but I walked anyway. "Hello?" He turned around, his eyes were red and puffy, he'd been crying, but why?
"Hi, you're that new girl."
"Yeah, are you okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Did you need anything?" He asked before wiping his eyes on the hem of his T-shirt.
"How do you get to E block?"
"I'm in E block, I'll take you." I smiled and allowed the boy to lead the way, I could tell he was Irish, his accent gave it away. I smiled as he spoke, I was always interested in accents.
"I'm Teddy by the way."
"Nice to meet you, I'm Nora."
"I know, you're the new kid, everyone knows the new kid." I nodded slowly and rubbed my aching temple. "Jamie hurt you pretty bad, you should get an ice pack."
"Oh, no, I'm fine."
"You say as you're rubbing your head." I chuckled and he joined in.
"Yeah, well I tend to rub my head, it's normal for me."
"Sure it is, and here is E block. What room?"
"Twelve."
"I'll get Amber to bring you up an ice pack." I nodded and smiled.
"Thanks."
"No problem, see you later." I waved Teddy walked back down the hall, turning at the first corner.
I opened my dorm room and threw myself on my bed. I shut my eyes tight and tried to imagine the pain that seared through my skull disappearing. Whilst my eyes were closed the worst scenarios ever imaginable for my situation arose in my mind, being branded onto my backs of my eyelids the longer I thought at them. At one point my eyelids got increasingly heavier, and soon enough I was no longer able to keep them open. I was still able to hear what was going on around me, but darkness was all I saw.
"Nora!" I heard, it was either Amber or Libby. "Nora, wake up!" My body was shaken wildly and with each shake my eyelids got lighter and soon felt normal, I opened my eyes, squinting until my eyes adjusted.
"What the hell guys?"
"Sorry, you wasn't responding." Libby said.
"You might have a concussion, let's get you to the nurse." Amber added.
"I'm fine, I told Teddy I was fine."
"Yeah, but Teddy is deluded, and he'll believe anything someone says."
"Whatever." I rolled my eyes and stood up, aided by Libby and Amber who both insisted.
The nurse checked me over as Libby and Amber waited outside. She shone a torch on my eyes, made me follow the light, she asked me the date and the year and all that and I was fine, she even said I have no concussion, just that I've got to take it easy. "I'm fine ladies." I said to the girls once I'd left the room.
"Well, that's good."
"I told you I was fine." They chuckled as did I.
"Well, you wouldn't have known for sure until you got checked out." Amber said, I nodded and we walked down the corridor, heading back to E block.
