“W-What?”

The bag over your shoulder slid down your arm, hitting the ground with a heavy thud. Eyes widened with shock, you watched your mother move a pan from the stove to brush some eggs onto the plates set onto the table.

“You heard what I said, Y/n,” She said firmly, yet a smile was on her face. “You will not be returning to that school.”

“Okaasan!” You exclaimed, the chains rattling as you took a trembling step forward. “You can’t just do take me out like that! I’m in the middle--”

“You’ll start at Kanagawa tomorrow morning,” She hummed. “No ifs, ands, or buts.”

“Chichi!” You gasp, looking over to him. Your father remains silent, his eyes cast away from yours.

No. This can’t be happening. Sh-She couldn’t do that, right?

“You told us that you wouldn’t be affected by the school,” Your mother said, placing a piece of toast in front of your sister. “What do you expect me to do when you come home from the hospital with a gunshot wound? What kind of mother would I be if I didn’t take you from there?”

You lowered your head, fists clenched at your sides. You tightened your jaw, biting back your words. Your mother continued on.

“I let you do what you want, and this is what happens. The Lord is testing my faith, I just know it. That damned devil is trying to take over my baby. I’ll have you cleansed before then. Hurry now, get your shoes on. The quicker we go, the quicker that evil will leave you, and you’ll quit obsessing over things that aren’t there.”

A bitter laugh escaped your lips, making your parents look at you. Your gaze hardened in an icy glare, lips pulling in a frown.

“You’re such a bitch, you know that?”

“Y/n!” Your father exclaims, standing up from the table so fast his chair was knocked over. “Watch your language! Apologize to your mother this instant!”

“You never want to act like a parent until one of us is hurt, or it looks bad on you. What would your church friends think about the woman who let her daughter go back to the school that caused her to almost get killed? It’s pathetic and you know it. I can’t believe you’d have the audacity, Okaasan.”

Your mother struck you. Your cheek stung with the rising heat, the force of her smack causing your cheek to redden. Her ring had busted your lip, causing a thin line of blood to dribble from the wound. She shook with anger, brown eyes wide as she panted.

“You will not speak to me like that,” She said, voice trembling. “Get your shoes on, now.”

You turned and walked away, slipping your shoes on by the door. You picked up your bag and slammed the door behind you. You heard your mother yell after you. You disappeared around the corner.

Geto glanced at the door, then back to the clock. 8:24. You were always here at 8 o’clock. Where were you?

“Quit doin’ that, Suguru,”

The ravenette turned his head, his gaze falling upon his friend. Gojo’s arms were folded behind his head, feet kicked on the desk as he tipped his chair back. He cracked an eye open, ocean blue orbs peering over the rim of his black glasses.

“You look like a forgotten puppy. Y/n probably just skipped with Shoko.”

Geto glanced at his phone. No messages.
