One Year Later

“Okay! Here we go!”

Gojo’s singing voice filled the air. Geto, Ieiri, and yourself stood in front of him. In Geto’s hand he held an eraser, in Ieiri’s a pen, and your hands were in your pockets, watching this all go down.

At his words, the two other teens threw the objects at him. The pen stopped mid-air, freezing a few centimeters away from Gojo’s nose. The eraser bounced off the air, and Gojo reached up and caught both.

“Yep, it’s working,” He grinned.

“What the heck was that!?” Ieiri exclaimed.

“The targets for the technique were selected automatically?” Geto asked.

“Yep,” Gojo said, popping his lips.

“So what you were doing manually, is now automatic?” You said. Gojo nodded.

“I was able to sort the objects into dangerous levels by the amount of cursed energy, but now, I can also sort them by mass, speed, and shape,” He said, tossing the eraser in the air. “I’d like it if I could also pick up on poisonous things, but that’s still too hard. With this, I’ll be able to leave the infinity technique basically always active with minimal resources.”

“That’s really impressive, Satoru,” You said. “But you’ll fry your brain if you always leave it active.”

“I’m simultaneously running a self-recovery reverse jujutsu technique,” He replied, shaking the pen in your direction. “This way, my brain will always stay fresh.”

“Hmph,” You laughed shortly, rubbing the side of your neck. “You’re leaving us in the dust, huh, Satoru?”

He laughed and punched your shoulders playfully. “Don’t bring yourself down, idiot! You act like you aren’t strong either!”

You chuckled and pushed his hands away. “Yeah...sure.”

You and Geto sat in silence. It’s how most of your days were spent now. You didn’t have much to speak about, so it was mostly just silence, basking in each other’s presence. With your legs extended on the bench, your head lay in his lap, face snug in his shirt. His arm lay loosely around your waist, a sign that he was there.

“Geto-san! Great work out there today!”

The voice was a familiar one. Haibara Yu, the second-year. He’d taken a liking to your boyfriend, you noted in the time they spent together.

“Oh! I almost didn’t see you, Y/n-senpai!” He exclaimed. You simply raised a hand before letting it fall once more.

“Would you like something to drink, Haibara?” Geto asked.

“Eh? You don’t have to...a cola, please!”

After taking the drink from the machine, Haibara seated himself on the opposite side of Geto. “My mission tomorrow is going to be pretty far out!” He said, excited at finally having missions of his own.

“Really?” Geto said, his fingers running through your hair. You were on the verge of sleep, he noticed. “Do bring souvenirs.”

“Got it! Do you prefer something sweet or salty?” The boy asked.

“I might share with Satoru or Y/n...so something sweet,” He replied before his demeanor slowly shifted.

“Haibara,” He said more seriously. “Do you think you can keep being a shaman? Is it not rough for you?”

“Hm...let’s see,” Haibara said. “I’m not really the type to think deeply into anything you see,”

Geto glanced down at you. Your eyes were closed, breathing evened as you held the end of his shirt in your hand. He was certain you were asleep now.

“It just feels nice to me,” said Haibara, a wide smile on his face. “To do my best in the things that I can do!”

Geto looked at him for a moment before turning his gaze back to you. “I see. That makes sense.”

At the sound of another set of footsteps, both of them looked up. A woman stood in front of them, tossing a jacket over her shoulder. “Are you Geto-kun? What’s your type of girl?”

Geto raised an eyebrow. “Who are you?”

“I like girls who eat a lot!” Haibara said.

“Haibara...” Geto murmured, facing his underclassman.

“It’s fine,” The boy replied. “She’s not a bad person. I’m sure of that since I have a good eye for people!”

Geto looked at him, a bitter chuckle passing over his lips. “You say that while sitting right next to me?”

Haibara tilted his head. “Yes!”

“Haha!” The woman laughed. “Boy, was he being sarcastic or what?”

Haibara stood, excusing himself from the room with a wave. The woman took his spot, glancing at your sleeping form.

“Is he a kouhai? He’s so honest and cute. But he needs to be careful of people since he’s a shaman,” She said, waving to him. “So, are you going to answer my question, Geto-kun?”

“Answer mine first. Who are you?”

“Special Grade Shaman, Tsukumo Yuki. Have you heard of me?” She purred. Geto jolted.

“You’re the one…”

“Oh?” She said excitedly. “So you have heard of me!”

“The Special Grade who never goes on any missions, and just fucks around taking trips overseas,” He said, watching her slump down. Was she sulking?

“I hate this college,” She sighed. “I’m just kidding, though. But it’s true that my objectives don’t align with the college’s. The people here want to treat the symptoms. I want to treat the cause.”

“Treat the cause?” Geto echoed.

“I don’t want to hunt cursed spirits. I want to create a world where cursed spirits aren’t born.”

They continued on. You shifted awake, face twisting with discomfort. The hand Geto had on your side was tight, unconsciously gripping in.

“Then...we should just kill all non-shamans.”

Your eyes widened. What...what the hell was Geto thinking? The air began to feel a little thin. Kill all non-shamans? That would wipe out almost the entire population. What the fuck was this woman putting in Geto’s head?

“Oh, sorry, Y/n. Did I wake you?”

Geto peered down at you, feeling you begin to shift. You sat up, your back to both shamen. You placed a shaking hand over your mouth, eyes wide as your body trembled.

“N-No.”

He touched your back. “Are you alright? You’re shaking.”

“Just a nightmare,” You whispered, standing to your feet, leaving the building. You leaned against the wall outside, arms wrapping around your frame.

Was that how Geto actually felt? Hypothetically speaking, if all humans were shamans, then no curses would be born. Geto wanted to kill all non-shamans. He couldn’t actually go through with it though, right? Killing all non-shamans would result in mass genocide! Geto wasn’t the type of person to do that...right? He wouldn’t kill people just because they weren’t shamans. He would have a reason.

What the hell are you talking about? Why would Geto kill in the first place? That girl, just what the hell was she putting in Geto’s mind?

You had to stop him before it was too late.
