The sound of crunching could be heard as blood dripped down from the small creature's body. Something was holding it....a girl with a bright yellow raincoat.

Her eyes was clouded with hunger as she hungrily chewed, knawed and tore at the creature's shoulder

Her eyes was clouded with hunger as she hungrily chewed, knawed and tore at the creature's shoulder.

The nome squirmed and struggled in hopes to be released. If only the girl knew that the creature used to be a boy. A boy who had no name but the nickname the children gave him. Runaway. Why Runaway you ask? Because he always finds ways to try to escape the dreaded maw but sadly he always failed. How he got into this mess? Lets just say his last attempt at leaving did not go so well. Now he's at the girl's mercy but sadly his luck has already died out. Now he had to lay there as he felt the excrutiating pain course through his now small body. The fact that his brain hasn't numbed the pain yet was  unfortunate.

Pain, pain, pain, pain, pain, pain, pain-

Pain, pain, pain, pain, pain, pain, pain-

Then his vision went dark, cutting off whatever he was feeling or seeing. He felt...free. Death was inviting, he can finally leave. Maybe it wasn't the freedom he expected but it was better than being in the maw and overworked as a nome. Runaway could see the light, the oh so inviting light of freedom. He reached towards it, hand out as he attempted to grasp at the lingering feeling of hope and warmth.

He was so close....unfortunately...his foot got caught. The sound of chains wrapping around his right foot where his old chain used to be. The chains weren't metallic in fact it was just...black. It burned his skin and took hold before yanking him down into the darkness below. The boy's eyes went wide beneath his hair as he tried to break free, unfortunately it only made the chains tug him down faster.

No

No. No no no no no no. He was SO CLOSE! He can't be pulled back to whatever is happening--he can't he just CAN'T. He was supposed to be free now! The mortal life he had was over so W H Y. WHY IS HE BEING PULLED DOWN TO THE DEPTHS OF THIS HELL? WHY IS HE NOT ALLOWED TO BE FREE? WHY CAN'T HE HAVE HIS HAPPY ENDING?

.....

A static noise could be heard as the scene change to that of a library. Filled to the brim with books while other books were pilled on the floor. A figure surfaced from the shadows below, its face was unrecognizable. It was all black...soon a white mask manifested onto the shadow's face. It had two eye holes and a small frowning mouth.

New Life was given to the soul that didn't pass on
