Detention - Or Not?

The next morning rolls around and I AM SO NERVOUS!!! Surprisingly, I slept like a baby last night, mainly because I forgot this was even going on until I woke up. All seven of my boys are coming to the school, in the classrooms, could even be in one of my classes.

I would be jumping up and down right now and shrieking like a banshee, but I'm not even totally sure this is all real...

Anywho, I went up to the school again into the cafeteria to grab my breakfast. Bangtan wasn't there again, just a few of the Chinese men here and there, so I headed straight to class.

I stopped to talk to my friend Casey in the hall for just a couple of minutes. I also stopped in my tracks when I walked past Dr. Everson's office and heard the voice of none other than Jung Hoseok. Wow, J-hope is our counselor. Isn't that ironic?

I finally stepped into class to find a no Mrs. Heather (no surprise there) and Jungkook sitting at her desk. He had a navy blue suit on and a pair of glasses on the edge of his nose. I have to say.....I'm not going to say it.

He stopped whatever he was doing and just stared at me. I froze. He continued staring and then gave an exasperated sigh and said, "Next time, Miss Alice, you would do well not to make any detours on the way to class."

"S-sir?" was all that would come out.

He lightly slammed his fist on the desk and said, "You don't need to stop and talk to all your friends. This is school; you must come straight to class."

I bowed my head slightly and muttered, "Yes, sir."

Then, just as soon as I sat down, I whipped my head around and asked, "How do you know my name?" He merely winked at me and then got up and walked to Mrs. Gray's room across the hall.

I was baffled. One minute he was raising his voice at me and the next he was winking at me?! This makes no sense!

Anyway, I started talking to Tracy about band and everything. A couple minutes went by and that joker Jeon walks back in here and just stops. And stares.

Is he going to do that the whole time?

"Detention, Miss Alice."

I scoffed, "Why?"

He looked at me like I was crazy. What? I wasn't disrespecting him; I was just asking a question.

"Talking is not permitted in my class. Detention. Here. At break."

I hung my head low and answered, "Yes, sir," while several people laughed at me. He didn't give them detention. This is going to be a tough semester.

After that, class was relatively normal. Mrs. Heather came in late like she always does and started teaching class. I had a hard time focusing because: one, I hate geometry, and two, Jeon-freaking-Jungkook was in the same room as me.

Soon, the bell rang and I headed to band class. I wondered if there was another BTS member there. I don't suppose so because band is an extracurricular and not part of our curriculum. My face fell and I was slightly disappointed.

But when I walked into the band hall, I was blinded by a glorious electric blue and suddenly my mood shifted to happy.

Taehyung was here. He stood in a corner and just watched us.

I got my saxophone out and we started playing. We were just doing stand tunes today, but our teacher Mr. Praxton made us stand up and I don't know why.

After about four or five stand tunes, he brings Taehyung up to the front and announces, "Now, you all remember what happened in the auditorium yesterday. These men are here to observe our learning and growth rates and hopefully gather some tips that they can use for their educational programs. So I want you to be on your best behavior and be one hundred percent respectful to these men. Understand?"

We all answered with a "yes, sir."

He continued, "Now this is," in his long southern drawl, "Mr. Kim 'Tay-hung' and he will be observing our high school band class. Everyone say hi to him."

Everyone said hi and Taehyung merely waved before returning to his corner.

Mr. Praxton said, "Alright," and we went back to playing. Our drum major Diego started counting off Sail and I felt a pair of eyes boring into my soul. I look towards the corner and there he is just staring at me. I wonder if that has something to do with the way Jin was looking at me in the cafeteria the first day they got here.

Anyway, after we were done, I was about to walk to break with my friends when I remembered that I have detention.

Surprisingly, right then, Taehyung walked up to me and offered this proposition, "Walk you to detention? I'm heading that way anyway."

How did he know that I had detention? I wasn't going to be rude, so I just said, "S-sure."

He raised an eyebrow and I corrected myself, "Yes, sir."

The walk to detention was really awkward and, of course, neither of us spoke a word. When we got there, the door was closed. I knocked and no answer. Taehyung knocked and no answer.

He shrugged his shoulders and said, "I guess you don't have detention today," and just walked off. Whatever. I don't care.

I walked to my third period class Mrs. Samantha's room and knocked on the door. She opened it and let me inside. I usually stay here during break because I don't like spending break with all the annoying popular kids, and I am grateful that Mrs. Samantha even lets me stay in her room.

However, this time it was different. I held my breath when I took in the sight. All the way across the room stood none other than Kim Seokjin wearing glasses and reading what looked to be a thousand page book. He looked up at me and wore that stupid smirk again before looking back down.

Suddenly my words were caught in my throat as I forced out, "Mrs. S-samantha, is-is it okay if I s-stay h-here during break?"

She raised her eyebrows. "I don't care," and started walking out before stopping and saying, "As long as Mr. Kim is okay with it."

He glanced up and replied, "I don't mind." Mrs. Samantha walked out of the room.

I slung my backpack down and sat down. He slammed his book close and sat down as well. "What is your name?" he asks kindly.

"Alice."

"I am Kim Seokjin." He holds out his hand and I respectfully shake it. "So why are you in here and not at break?"

I tried to come up with a good excuse, but I am not a good liar. "I don't like being there with all the obnoxious popular kids. I prefer to spend my break in this room where I can have peace and quiet. I hope I am not bothering you by being here."

This was the first time I saw a genuine smile on his face. "Quite the contrary, Miss Alice, I am starting to enjoy your company." I smiled back. "But unfortunately I must leave for a few minutes. Goodbye."

"Goodbye," I mumbled as he walked out.

Wait?! Where is he going?!
