I awoke with an arm flung over my face. I reached out and removed Aaron's hand, placing it back on his side. Rubbing the sleepiness from my eyes, I sat up to look at the time. Carefully reaching over Aaron, I grabbed my phone off his side table. It was eight in the morning. I groaned, not wanting to be awake. I didn't have my first class until 10 that day, but Aaron had his in 30 minutes.
Gently shaking his arm, I called out his name.
"Aaron? Aaron, it's time to get up. You have class soon."
"Humph." He reached out to me with his eyes still closed, placing his splayed-out palm over my face.
I shrieked and pried his hand off my face, laughing.
"Aaron. I'm serious, you need to get up. It's 8:00."
He quickly jumped up, causing me to jump back toward the wall. His wide, sleepy eyes looked at me in confusion as he took in his surroundings before realization hit.
"Shit Maddie. What time did you say it was?"
"It's 8:05 to be exact. Don't you have class soon?"
"Yeah, shit. I do. I guess I forgot to set my alarm. But we were pretty busy last night." He wiggled his eyebrows at me before giving me a quick kiss on the cheek and standing up. He looked around his room, frantically pulling on clothes. Running his hand through his hair to fix it, he looked me over as I stood up with the sheets pulled around me.
"I'm sorry I have to run. Take your time getting ready. If you want, you can go back to sleep. I doubt L.J. will be around until later since he was gone all night. He doesn't have classes until noon today."
I nodded my head, tightening my grip around the blanket with one hand as I laid my other hand on his chest and leaned into his kiss.
"It's okay. As much as I would love to get more sleep, I have classes in a bit anyway, and I want to get a shower."
"Okay. Well, I would stay until you're ready, but I still need to brush my teeth and grab a coffee before class."
"It's fine. Go ahead and head out. I'll see you later."
He gave me another light kiss and walked toward the door, opening it before pausing in the doorway.
"Last night was fun. I'm really glad you're here Maddie. I'm enjoying knowing you better and spending more time with you."
I smiled and his lips matched mine in a warm grin. He walked out, closing the door, and I stayed in spot momentarily thinking about what he had said.
Last night was the first night we had been intimate since I moved to Georgia. We had slept together only twice before, but there was something different about last night that made me feel he was interested in moving forward with me. I wanted so desperately to be confident in the next step with him. But as my eyes travelled to the other side of the room, and the evidence of Liam Tucker's existence screamed out at me, I knew deep down why I wasn't.
