Didn't take much for him to fall back into form.
He hadn't been able to get Zemo's words out of his head for a few days. And it started to bother him quite a bit. It made his job a lot harder. It made his journey to a better life a lot harder. He wasn't Winter Soldier anymore. He wasn't a killer anymore. He was slowly believing it, but then he got the stupid idea to free Zemo, and he was now putting uncertainty in his head. And he didn't like that. He had come a long way and did not want to go back.
Zemo led them to his apartment in Vilnius and was telling them something, but Bucky didn't listen to him so much. He held back behind Sam, drowning in his thoughts. And then he felt someone's gaze on him. He knew it wasn't Zemo or Sam, so he looked around immediately. It didn't even take him a second to saw her. She was leaning against a white building, wearing a hooded sweatshirt and dark sunglasses. When she saw that he was aware of her presence, she stopped leaning against the wall and headed away.
"I'm gonna go on a walk," he told them immediately.
"You good?" asked Sam and gave him a questioning look.
"Yeah. I'll see you guys in a bit." Or maybe later, he thought to himself and he walked quickly after the redhead. He had to go really fast so he wouldn't lose sight of her, which he didn't want to. All it had cost was see her standing there leaning against the building, and it brought him inner peace in a second.
She suddenly disappeared into a hotel, and Bucky's heart began to beat a little faster. He hoped it wasn't just a dream. Because if it was just a dream, and he wakes up without her, he would probably have to interrupt the mission and return home. He ran up the stairs and pinched his hand just to make sure he wasn't sleeping. When he didn't wake up, he decided he wasn't sleeping and went to explore the first floor of the hotel. There were a lot of rooms, but only one had an open door. He went inside and closed the door behind himself.
Suddenly, his redhead appeared in front of him. The hoodie and glasses were gone. She was now wearing a plain white tank top and black jeans. And Bucky went crazy from that look. He reached out and pulled her by the waist close to him. Then, without a word, he kissed her roughly. Natasha moaned and began to return the kiss immediately. Bucky completely forgot his name and what he was doing in Vilnius. He had completely forgotten everything as their kiss deepened. He hadn't seen her in so long. In his opinion, too long.
"I missed you too," she breathed heavily as they moved away from each other. Her lips were slightly swollen, and Bucky had to control himself a lot to not kiss her again.
When he said nothing, she grinned. She took his hand and led him further into the room. When they reached the small living room, she clasped her hands on his chest and throw him on the couch. He laughed, but Natasha sat on his lap, wrapped her arms around his neck, and began to kiss him again.
"Nat," he whispered against her lips, and as she pulled away, he leaned his forehead against hers. "What are you doing here?"
"Sam called me. He's worried about you after what happened on your visit to Madripoor. He probably thought I'd call you, but I know you prefer face-to-face contact," she replied, running her hands through his hair. She loved how short they were now.
Bucky frowned a little. "Why would Sam call you? He doesn't know about us," he said incomprehensibly.
Natasha shuddered slightly and Bucky gasped, then grabbed her hips to keep her from moving. He didn't have time for this and didn't want to get too excited when nothing is gonna happened.
"I'm sorry," Natasha apologized, but she didn't sound too much sorry. "I don't know, isn't he a psychologist or something? Maybe he felt the bond between us," she said casually. "Do you want to talk about it?" she asked, leaning over so she could give him a few kisses on the neck.
"Nat," he moaned softly. "I can't talk about it when you are doing this to me," he said in a hoarse voice.
"All right, talk," she urged, pulling away from him.
"What are you doing? I didn't tell you to stop," he protested. He ran his hands under her tank top, and the redhead yelped a little. An apologetic expression settled on Bucky's face and he was about to withdraw his hands, but Natasha stopped him.
"Don't you dare to apologize," she warned him. "It just got cold, nothing more," she said, like after every time this happened.
"So, did Sam tell you what happened in Mardipoor?" he asked, running his fingers to make small rings on her bare skin.
"Not much."
"We got our roles and had to stick to them," he sighed. Nat clasped her hands behind his neck and listened intently. "You can only guess that I should have been a Winter Soldier. And I did well. Too well. Zemo told Sam that it didn't take much for me to fall back into form. And now I have to think about it all the time. I'm no longer a Winter Soldier. I'm not a killer anymore, Nat," he whispered.
"Of course you are not," she reassured him and took his face in her hands.
"But I didn't even hesitate. He told me what to do and I did it without hesitation. I broke rule number two."
"Listen to me, James. You had a job and it required disguise. We've been doing this our whole lives. It means nothing. Winter Soldier is gone, as is Black Widow. We are no longer the same people we were in Russia. We may have the names left, but not our alter egos. You know that..." she told him with urgency in her voice. It was not the first time they had this conversation. From time to time, one of them needed to hear the words from the other. Bucky more often than she did, but she understood. She was away from Russia and their brainwashing for longer than him.
He smiled a little. "I really missed you," he muttered, kissing her hungrily. It started to get heavy, but he didn't care. He started kissing her on the neck and Nat moaned, then she curled up with delight, and that her movement made him moan too. Screwed Sam and Zemo. He won't join them until he's done here with his redhead.
But Natasha apparently had other plans because she pulled away from him and then stood up. "You should go back," she reminded him with a small grin.
"You're kidding," he groaned.
"Me? Never," she laughed and she leaned toward him. "You should complete this mission quickly and return home. I will be waiting for you," she whispered in his ear and kissed his earlobe.
God, this woman!
He grabbed her arms and quickly pulled her onto the couch, then lay down on her. He kissed her once more, but this time it was a slower kiss. He tried to put into it all the feelings he felt for her. "Thank you for showing up."
"Just go, I want you home soon," she said firmly, pushing a little into him to stand up.
Bucky laughed but complied. He got up and left the room without another look at the redhead. He knew that if he turned to her, he would not leave. But he had to help Sam. Only then he will be able to enjoy the time with Nat.
