sidney sat down on emma's bed as she scrolled through instagram. she looked up and smiled, "what's up?"
"i want you to come to dinner with me." sidney said and emma looked concerned.
"you mean as your date? geno didn't invite me." evgeni invited sidney to his home for a dinner before sidney's 1000th nhl game and like always, sidney was allowed to bring whoever he was dating.
"i am though. geno is my best friend and if anyone should know about us, it's him." he put his hands on her legs, "please."
emma put her phone down and took a shaky breath. she knew being at geno's house as sidney's girlfriend would make her anxiety sky rocket. "ok."
sidney smiled and pecked her lips, "terrific."
"when are we going?"
"in two hours." he said and emma's face dropped.
"why would you wait so long to ask me?" she got up, walking into her closet and looking around for something to wear. sidney followed her into the small room and kissed her bare shoulder.
she smiled, grabbing a pair of jeans and a balenciaga long sleeve shirt. emma took off her tank top and sweatpants and put on the clean clothes. she put on a black belt before putting her arms around sidney's shoulders. she kissed him softly, feeling his hands on her waist.
sidney's phone started to ring in his pocket and he sighed. he answered it and walked into the hallway. emma went back into her room and took half of a xanax to calm her nerves, sitting down on her bed.
sidney came back into her room a few minutes later. he crawled onto the bed and laid emma down, kissing her lightly, "i love you, em."
"i love you too, babe." she ran her hand through his soft brown hair. the xanax hit her and she felt like she was floating. she grinned, thinking she was dreaming, "what if we told everyone? what are they gonna do that's so bad?"
"emma, are you ok?" he noticed how pale she looked and he knew that she didn't want anyone to know about them.
"i'm perfect." she whispered, "i think i need a nap."
"i'll wake you up in an hour." sidney got off of her and kissed her forehead, "sweet dreams, mi amor."

he woke her up an hour and a half later, worried that she wouldn't feel better.
thankfully she did though. she got out of bed with a smile, "let me just brush my teeth and then we can go."
"sounds good." he answered and she went into her bathroom.
she came back out a couple of minutes later and kissed sidney. he tasted the mint and licked his lips. emma opened her mouth, letting sidney's tongue slide against hers. she pulled away slowly, "we should get going."
"mhm." he brushed his hand through her brown hair. emma grabbed a small leather backpack and put her phone, wallet, and pill bottle in it. the couple walked out of their home and got into sidney's tesla. he started it and backed out of the drive way, putting his hand on his girlfriends thigh.
"so geno doesn't know i'm coming, does he?"
"nope." sidney shook his head, "but i'm sure he'll be happy about it. he knows i like you."
"and how does he know that?" emma leaned against the center console, looking at his face.
"he caught me looking at you one too many times for it to be innocent. i think kris might be questioning our relationship too." sidney turned down a road, pulling into geno's drive way a few minutes later, "ready?"
"as i'll ever be." she whispered, taking off her seat belt and opening the passenger door. sidney put his hand in hers as they walked to the door. he knocked on the door and emma looked towards the car, ready to run away if anything went wrong.
geno's wife opened the door with a smile, pulling both of them into a hug, "hello, sid and emma."
"hi." emma answered, looking at sidney for guidance.
"anna, i'd like you to meet my girlfriend emma."
"oh! not teammate?" anna tilted her head.
"well i'm kinda both."
"hm." anna nodded, moving back so the couple could come in, "geno in kitchen."
"ok cool." sidney squeezed emma's hand and led her into the house. they took off their shoes and walked farther into the house. a little boy came running towards sidney and the man picked him up, "hi, buddy."
"uncle siddy!" the boy hugged his neck and emma felt her stomach fill with butterflies. sidney carried him into the kitchen and placed him back on the ground.
"hey, g." sidney spoke up and geno looked up from the stove, he saw emma hiding behind sidney and dropped the spoon he was holding.
"emma?"
she smiled nervously, "hi."
"you date?"
"yeah." sidney grinned, squeezing her hand.
