Saving Hybrids

Chapter four: George

George POV

I woke up in the late afternoon, still tired. Maybe I'll go see if that strange hooded figure from a few days ago is back.

a few days ago..

George is walking in the forest not to far from his house. He is an human form looking for MoonBloom flowers because they are only seen at the full moon, which happens to be tonight. George turns around seeing a huge cluster of MoonBloom flowers. He reaches down and picks at least half. This should supply him for a while.  George see's a black figure standing in the bushes watching him. George stares at the figure until he see's it disappear. The last thing he saw was a big black spiked tail. An Ender Dragon Hybrid? George thought those were myths.

I snap my thoughts back. I'm still in the sewers. I quickly climb up a ladder and silently curse at myself. F**k! There are three hybrids all right next to the entrance spying. I try to slink back down to the sewers but one spots me. She scream just loud enough for me and her friends to hear. Her friends quickly turn around and I duck right back into the sewers. I see their shadows moving outside the entrance. I quickly transform and run away. While I'm hiding behind some metal bars the three friends come down. 

The girl who has screamed earlier sinks into the water, while the black and white boy quickly avoids it. The other boy with the gray skin comes down last closing the hatch. I see a bag of food in his hand. Did he steal it? Hybrids aren't allowed to buy things from the market. Thye must of stolen it. "Where did he go Niki?" The gray-ish boy asks the girl. 

"I don't know...But I think I see something moving over there!" Niki says looking my direction. How can she see? I thought only Dog hybrids and night hybrids could see in the dark. She's clearly not either of those.

I forgot to mention that since Niki is a Ocean trench Mermaid she can see in the dark. And so can George. Don't blame me. This is my first time writing a book >.< And Ranboo hates water of course.

The black and white hybrid carefully follows Niki stepping away every time water splashed. The gray Hybrid is right behind him. They come around my corner. I think about running, but if I run they'll for sure see me. So, instead I try to stay hidden. 

They look straight at me, and Niki shouts. "Oh my goodness! There's a cute little puppy down here!" She comes closer staring at me so cutely. Wait. They're Hybrids. Why am I so scared? I like Hybrids. The gray Hybrid comes over and says, "Niki, that's not a puppy." 

She looks up at him. "What do you mean Will?" the Will shakes his head and makes some weird motions with his hands. Niki looks at him confused. "Will I don't understand sign language." 

Will shakes his head and sighs. "That's not the point. This puppy is a Hybrid. Probably the same one you saw." He whispered the last part in her ear. But because of my excellent hearing I can tell what their saying just fine. 

I decide their nice enough to trust so I transform. 

FYI these Hybrids have two forms. Their first form is basically a Human with some thingy their Hybrid form has. Like ears and a Tail, or weird eyes, weird skin, etc. Then they can transform into their full Hybrid form. For Hybrids like wind spirts and creatures that don't really have a form like that they just become more powerful.

Niki jumps back knocking the black and white hybrid into the water. He quickly jumps out red marks on his legs. "Ouch. Niki that hurt!" He says rubbing his legs. 

"Sorry!" Niki exclaims. Will studies me. "Who are you? You haven't said anything this whole time."

I hold out my hand. "I'm George, a dog Hybrid. Sorry for scaring your friend." I jerk my head towards Niki. Will shakes my hand, but I can tell he is hesitant. "I'm..." He pauses looking at Niki and the other Hybrid. Niki nods her head while the black and white hybrid shrugs like What do you expect me to do?  "I'm Wilbur. That's Niki and Ranboo." He explains gesturing to Niki and the other Hybrid. Ranboo waves at me wincing. 

"You live down here?" Ranboo asks still rubbing his legs. 

"Yeah I do." I look at his legs and he quickly tries to hide it. "Are your legs ok? I might have something." I ask looking at him.

He hesitates looking at Niki. They seem to have a silent argument in which Niki wins. Ranboo sighs in defeat. "Yeah I do. I'm half Enderman Hybrid so water really hurts." He remarks rubbing his legs harder. I motion for them to follow me. 

Niki whispers in Ranboo and Wilbur's ears. They follow me. I take turns and twists finally making it home. I open the Vault-like door. They follow me inside. "Wow," Ranboo remarks. "This is nice compared to the rest of the sewer. It has light and furniture." 

"Yeah," I say sitting down on one of the chairs I had stolen the other day. "It used to be a old Bank Vault so that's why it has lighting. The rest of the stuff in here I stole. It's not much but you get used to it after a while." I shrug.

Wilbur and Niki look around fascinated. "This place is amazing compared to how we live!" Niki says breathless. Wilbur elbows her. "Hey!" she exclaims. "It is."

"Where do you live? I thought I was the only Hybrid around these parts." I ask trying to get more information, watching as Wilbur squished Niki in the blanket.

"Oh, we live in tents. We're always on the move so we don't get caught. Every few days we relocate." Niki pipes up from where Wilbur had squished her. 

"Yeah, it's hard because Niki constantly needs water, but I have to avoid it." Ranboo adds not seeing the glare Wilbur is giving both of them. 

"Oh really? Why?" I ask seeing that they clearly are inexperienced, so prying is the best option. I stand up looking through the cabinets of wood for my Phoenix tears. If Ranboo is really half-Endermen then the tears should heal the water scars. 

"Well, Niki is an Ocean Trench Mermaid so she needs the water every hour, and I'm half-Enderman so I have to avoid it otherwise this happens." Ranboo points to his legs. "And Wilbur is a Ghost Hybrid." Wilbur groans when Ranboo says that. 

"Ranboo! I thought we agreed on not telling random people who we are?" He says trying sit up because Niki turned the tables on him when he wasn't looking and was now squishing Wilbur.

"Sorry!" Ranboo says. "But he seems nice," He and Wilbur got into some long argument, but I wasn't paying attention. I had just found my small supply of Phoenix tears and was taking a tiny scoop out. "Ranboo, here, these should help your legs." I say grabbing their attention.

"How do I do it? eat them?" Ranboo asks looking at the tears. 

"Yes, for your legs you need to eat them." He pops the small amount into his mouth. He looks down at his legs seeing that the marks are gone. the touching his arms I notice barely visible old marks fading as well.

"Well, if you guys want to you can spend the night here." I say noticing Niki is yawning. The day had gone by fast. Even Wilbur looks tired. 

Wilbur grumpily says 'fine' when he sees how tired Niki is. They all collapse on one another, and I giggle. It feels good to have some people to share the night with.
