You can tell school is ending
When they finally remember locker keys
And ask for them back
Or else..
You can tell school is ending
When they start electing next years leadership team
And you only recognize one person running
Who was in your tutor group
When tutor groups counted for something
So give her a vote, even though her's wasn't the best
You can tell school is ending
When they no longer tell you off for playing cards
Instead, they snipe about work
You should have to do
Well, we got exams
Sorry mini-assessments next week
But you can tell school is ending
When there's literally nothing to do in lessons anymore
Over only going over stuff missed the first time
And just letting us get on with it
You can tell school is over
And they don't bother to force us to do Pe or PSHE anymore
When there's drama about pranks and dress up day
When one positive covid test
Means it's over right now.
When photos are collated
Holidays planed
No longer the favorite year
Because of teams beef
When you need to add sun cream to your routine
When you're sad
And you fight
And you don't know why
Because everything is ending
And it went quicker than you thought it did
And you're not ready
But you are
It's not like your imagined
But you made it
And it's over.
Soon you'll be hugging and crying
In fancy dress
Promising to stay in touch
Hoping that between it all
You've done enough.
Notes:
yes i am still here surprisingly enough. hello, school is ending again. This is a mix of both the schools i have been to ending. I'm doing ok, hasn't really properly sat in yet.
