POV: Third Person - Following Xayah

"Xayah!" Xayah fell to the ground as the Star Guardian's tried to leave, the corruption in her slowly spreading through her body.

Rakan rushes to her and relieves the pain, she stands back up and looks at the hole in the wall Ahri had made from her entrance, "We need to go after them."

He tries to stop her but can't, "Xayah-"

She turns around, "What?" It was the first time she sounded irritated wit him since they first met.

Rakan coughs, "I can't."

Xayah nods and walks back to him helping him up, "Zoe's going to be furious."

Rakan nods, "I know, you can blame it on me, Xayah."

Xayah smiles holding his hand, "Never, we're a team, remember?"

Rakan smiles and squeezes her hand, "Right."

They wait around until Zoe finally appears, "The mission?"

Xayah's head is down, "Failed, we didn't pursue them. We never know what's beyond just Ahri, they could've been waiting for all of us."

Zoe pushes her lips together, "Why didn't you pursue them? You two are strong enough, are you not? Or are you so incompetent that you can't even accomplish one thing with all the power I've given to you?"

Xayah looks up, her feathers in her hand glow, "You fucking-" she whispers under her breath.

Rakan squeezes her hand, the feathers stop glowing and she nods, "Next time I'll make it work, I promise."

Zoe's eye glitter with insanity, "You better."

...

Xayah looks at the galaxy, "It's beautiful, isn't it?" Rakan stands next to her.

Xayah looks up, "Of course it is, it always is." She hesitates, "Are we doing the wrong thing by working against the first star?"

Rakan hugs her, "Of course not, this is who we are. It's who we're meant to be, Xayah." He smiles,  "We're a team, remember?"

Xayah smiles and leans against him, "You're right."

She drifts off to sleep and he looks down at the galaxy, if it meant Xayah was safe, he'd do anything. Even if it meant he had to die, he'd do anything. He looks down at her, she was the only one he'd ever love and she'd probably be the last one he'd love. He knew that eventually one day he'd have to pay for his recklessness or one day he'd have to play for Xayah's thirst for revenge, but he was okay with it. As long as she was safe, he tells himself.

"Zoe has a new mission, it looks like a suicide mission." Xayah grumbled, "Why is she sending us on these missions instead of going herself?"

Rakan stays silent for once, there was no joke to make about this situation, she wanted them to go right to the first star. Zoe wanted them to go on an actual suicide mission, only one of them would be able to get out.

Xayah turns to him, "We don't have to do this."

Rakan smiles and holds her hand, "We're a team."

She smiles and he kisses her forehead, "I love you, Xayah."

She exhales calmly, "I love you too, Rakan."

She starts falling towards Runeterra, he follows her. She looks down at the world, she knew this would be a suicide mission. She falls in sync with Rakan and Ahri meets them, "You're not going near my world."

The other star guardians formed around her, Xayah inhales deeply. Her feathers glow and Rakan looks at her, "I love you."

Xayah throws feathers into everyone and quickly pulls them back, she jumps out of the way of the attacks being thrown at her, Rakan follows. Rakan jumps into them and rushes back onto Xayah, he winces as Ahri and Miss Fortune hit him.

Xayah jumps forward jumping upwards throwing feathers at each of them, Rakan dashes into them all. Xayah gets hit by Ezreal's ability and she groans and starts to fall, Rakan grabs her quickly.

Xayah looks at them, "Rakan, we're not going to be able to-"

"I know," he smiles, "just go Xayah. Use feather caller and you'll get out."

"No, Rakan I can't leave you," she weaves through their spells, "There has to be another way."

Ahri hits her and Xayah cries out, "Fuck! I can't... I can't dodge all of this."

Rakan looks at her, "Xayah, the only way you can escape is by letting me go."

Tears formed in her eyes making her vision blurry, he was right, "I can't let you go, we'll come up with something else."

He shakes his head, "Go." He squeezes her hand, "We're a team, right? Sometimes sacrifices need to be made."

She lets his hand go, "... Alright."

He looked back at her as he began falling down, "I love you."

She couldn't hold back her tears, she wiped them away with her hand, "I love you too."

Her hand started glowing and he dove in, they had one chance at this. She started to fly away and as she did she looked down, the dark energy coming from him was more than she could ever sense coming off of her. She closed her eyes as the darkness started to consume her, she pulled her feathers back and whispered to herself, "We're a team."

She found Zoe again, she was sobbing. Her eyes were cloudy with sobs and pained cries, Zoe looks at her, "Xayah."

"The mission?"

"Success."

"Good, Rakan?"

Xayah stayed silent, she seemed sad, "That's unfortunate."
