The rain poured relentlessly as Bakugou sprinted through the empty streets. His thoughts were a chaotic mess, his anger mingling with guilt and concern for Deku.
Suddenly, a loud HONK HONK shattered his focus. He turned to his right and spotted a woman in a black hood, standing frozen in the middle of the road as a van speeded toward her.
"Damn it, is she blind or deaf?" Bakugou growled under his breath, his body already moving before he could think. He dashed toward her, grabbing her arm and yanking her back onto the sidewalk just as the van sped past.
The woman looked up at him, her face partially obscured by the hood. "Thank you," she said, her voice low and oddly unsettling.
Bakugou narrowed his eyes but didn't linger on her for long. "Whatever," he muttered, brushing off the encounter as he turned and resumed running toward the park.
From the corner of his eye, he noticed her walking into a shadowy alley. For a brief moment, he wondered about her situation. Maybe she was poor, maybe she wasn't—either way, it wasn't his problem. His priority was finding Deku.
In the shadows of the alley, the woman watched him disappear into the distance. Her lips curled into a sly smile. She pulled out a small, leather-bound notebook and flipped it open. The pages were filled with intricate sketches and notes, but her focus landed on a specific entry.
Page 420. Two familiar faces stared back at her—Katsuki Bakugou and... Izuku Midoriya.
The woman's grin widened as she traced the heart drawn between their portraits. With a deep breath, she touched the heart with her fingertips and focused. Images began flooding her mind. She saw their past, filled with tension and unresolved feelings. She saw their present, tangled in misunderstanding and pain. And she saw their future—a future steeped in heartbreak and confusion if left untouched.
Closing the notebook, she sighed. "This won't do," she murmured.
Her name was Yui Katsumi, also known as The Soulmate Cupid. At 21 years old, Yui held a unique responsibility: to ensure that destined soulmates found their way to one another—not through forced intervention but through the natural flow of fate. Her quirk, Soulmate Strings, allowed her to see the bonds connecting people and subtly influence their paths.
The case of Katsuki and Izuku, however, was far from ordinary. Their bond was intricately knotted, burdened by years of rivalry and unspoken emotions. Fate was struggling to do its work, and Yui couldn't simply stand by.
From her pocket, she pulled out a sleek golden arrow. She aimed it skyward and released it. The arrow shot into the air, transforming into a brilliant, sparkling orb as it climbed higher. Moments later, the orb descended and hovered before her, pulsating with a soft, pink glow.
Yui caught it in her hands, its warmth radiating through her palms. She closed her eyes and recited an incantation, her voice steady and deliberate. When the spell was complete, the orb floated upward again, shining brighter than before, before darting off into the night sky.
"This isn't going to be easy," Yui whispered, watching the orb disappear into the distance. She knew that the love between Katsuki and Izuku was far from simple. Their story was layered with pain and misunderstanding, and fate would need an extra nudge to weave their paths together.
As the rain continued to fall, Yui remained in the alley. Whatever was meant to happen next, it would be for the greater good.
