it was around noon when jay woken her up from her deep slumber. despite the strange and unfamiliar setting, hyeji slept like a baby."hey you should freshen up. you've slept for a while and i still need to go over a few things with you. there should be some spare clothes and an extra toothbrush in the bathroom. i'll be waiting in the same room from yesterday. just come down and meet me when you're ready."
she glanced at the clock on the wall that displayed 12:03.
"alright, i'll be down in a few."
despite meeting and talking to jay just a few hours ago, hyeji was pretty comfortable with him. when they had finished the interrogation, the two started some casual conversations.
he was pretty chill and friendly for an assassin, she had thought.
once she had gotten up to make her way to the bathroom, she noticed her belongings on the ground besides her.
quickly, she rummaged through her bag in search of her phone.
it was dead when she pulled it out. deciding she could ask jay to charge it later, she made her way to the bathroom remembering the boy was waiting for her.
"took you long enough." was what jay had greeted her with when she had stepped in the room.
on her way there, many of the other boys gave her looks which she had no idea meant. soobin gave her a reassuring smile, the little 'boxer' boy rolled his eyes, and niki didn't even spare her a glance. her smile dropping when the boy walked past her.
"how am i supposed to know my way around here. its like a whole mansion and i just got here so cut me some slack." she huffed.
"come sit." he gestured towards the seat.
"ask away." she smiled.
"it seems you've gotten comfortable." he laughed.
"but jokes aside, i hope you understand that you've gotten yourself in a serious situation. this is extremely dangerous and we just don't let anyone in like this. you just happen to be brought in by niki and coincidentally involved with the blood ring. our suspicions hasn't settled yet." his tone drop, the mood going down with it.
hyeji understood it from the start. her parents were right. she would be the one to end up like this.
"i understand. i know this is serious business so i have to set my personal feelings aside and cooperate, i'll do what i have to and you can trust me with that." hyeji nodded.
"you're different ji. never in the world would i imagine someone to react like you in a situation like this. it's like you joined the military, ready to do your duty." jay laughed.
no matter how the mood was, jay didn't fail to enlighten it.
"ji? maybe you've gotten comfortable too." she laughed before continuing.
the two broke into laughter after they started small conversations.
"well soobin wanted me to tell you to come down to his clinic. he wanted to check up on your wound. meanwhile, i have a meeting to attend to. you probably already know what the discussion's going to be about."
hyeji replied with a nod.
"his clinic is right next door to the left. if you need anything, feel free to hit me up." he smiled.
hyeji left first, walking to who she assumed was the medic.
knocking on the door, she peeked into the room. soobin sat in front of his small desk, papers towering over the seated boy.
"you're here. great. come and have a seat on the examination bed."
the rest of her body made its way into the room, swiftly hoping onto the bed, completely regretting it as soon as she does so.
she clutches the side of her body earning a laugh from the dimple boy.
"did you shower this morning?" soobin asked raising the hem of her shirt to reveal the stitches aligned near her lower left abdomen.
"mhm."
"made sure to not get it wet?"
"yep."
"good. i'll remove a few of the stitches and replace them with a bandage. i want to allow the wound to naturally close to lessen the chances of an infection." soobin grabs his pair of medical scissors and tweezers as he gets hyeji to lie down.
"because i'm removing them, this also means there's an increases in chances of the wound reopening so you have to make sure you don't apply excessive force to the area or do anything extremely active." he finishes.
"i'll try not to." she thanked him.
soobin seemed less of a talker but regardless of that, hyeji was glad she was making a bit more progress with getting to know them.
