Part 6

As the other dwarves rushed around you and pushed to get out of the rain, Gloin set you down in the middle of the cave and rubbed his hands together.

"I know what will warm you up in a jiffy lass ! A nice warm fire !" He brightly said. You felt touched by this dwarfs kindly little gestures and felt a smile coming over your face.

"No- no fires." Thorin said. He was pacing restlessly. You didn't look up at him but saw his feet point strait at you when he paused. You kept your eyes away, resisting looking at him for your own sake. If you looked now your mind would race to why he had said those things. A human didn't belong with dwarves yes but - when so far from home and sharing so much joy with them- hadn't they begin to be more then just friends ? Probably not. You weren't a dwarf. You were a human. A lost one at that. Bilbo sat beside you, face glum as well

"Not in this place -" Thorin said. His voice was gruff as he continued, moving away from you " Get some sleep- we start at first light. " he turned away and went to talk with Balin, leaving you, the hobbit and Gloin alone.

"At least we can have some food lassie - their now, take off your coat and get as dry as you can." Gloin said. The red bearded dwarf was digging through his pack, muttering as he pulled his roll free and patted it down. He went. Back into his pack, muttering all the while.

"Are you alright Bilbo ?" You asked. The poor little hobbit was cold, shaking possibly from the ordeal he went through.

"Oh! Um -I - I guess so I mean -" he stumbled over his words and you smiled to yourself.

"Here - I may have something for you. " you muttered as you dug through your pack. When being teleported into this world, you had been taken with all your clothes and backpack as well. You had to leave all your textbooks behind at Bilbos when you and the company had first started out - but your backpack had been much more comfortable then what Thorin had offered you in the beginning.

Throin. That stupid, hot headed ass of a dwarf. You had saved him when you he had slipped ! Well- he had saved you first but that still didn't matter ! "Stupid, thick headed dwarves !" You grumbled. "Ah! I found it!" You muttered in happiness. You pulled out a large, wrapped bar of Hershey's chocolate- one of the many you had had in your bag before (you were an advent chocolate lover ) and passed it over to bilbo. "A little pick me up for us both." You called in delight as you pulled the third to last bar out.

"What is it y/n?" Bilbo asked, confusion all over his face.

"Why it's chocolate silly! Not the best mind you, but one of the more popular brands in my world. Hershey's is also an American chocolate - my home country. We don't make it as good as Godiva though- that chocolate is delicious. And a little bit of a treat never hurts anyone. Especially if they are down." You chuckled now, pulling your own bed roll out. Damn- it was slightly damp. Not gonna be the best thing to sleep in. But when you looked back the hobbit seemed even more confused. "Don't tell me- middle earth doesn't have CHOCOLATE ?"

"No-no not that I know of. " he mumbled apologetically.

"This is the biggest crime I have ever faced. How can a whole world not HAVE CHOCOLATE??!?!" You cried out in exasperation. The dwarves had stopped around you, eyes blinking in surprise at you in anger. They had rarely seen you get frustrated in good times, and when the harder times during the journey came, they had seen Your sarcastic tongue many a time. Thorin turned to look at you as well, eyes narrowing down to stare at your back. He didn't know what you were bemoaning about but his interest had been peaked. The dwarves King had felt a slight simmer of remorse for his harsh words before to you and to the Hobbit, but his pride had him hold his tongue from his apologies that the heart of him wished to make. He was king and he knew what and how to run the company. You two were not the biggest burden but it seems that trouble found you two more then naught. He kept his emotions in check as his eyes seemed to bore into you back.
