Part 7.

Something wasn't right. Your hands slid over the ground, feeling for something. But it was gone- your sleepy mind grumbling as you missed the space of warmth in your arms. A soft sound of sorrow escaped you. You liked your warm snuggle item. You rumbled in your sleep, rolling over to curl into the other warmth, something fluffy and comfy. The other warmth shifted a bit pulling away. It was warm - and it's fluffy coat had such a wonderful smell to it. You grabbed onto it as it tried to move away. "Nuuu...." You sleepily purred into the furry thing. The warmth rumbled like thunder, a deep noise that was more growl the anything. But it didn't pull away again. Instead it curved around you, enveloping you in its pine like smell. So comfy...... You began to slip back into your deep dreaming state when-

"WAKE UP!" Bolting from your sleep, you almost rammed into Thorins forehead in your surprise. When did he get so close ?! And what - was he - you looked over. His hands were wrapped around you as he shouted to the company. "WAKE UP ALL OF YOU." When did his hands wrap around you?! He tugged you up with him as you snatched your pack and put it on your shoulders, sensing foreboding.

"Throin- wha-" suddenly the floor gave way beneath you, a gaping chasm of black. You and the whole company were sent spiraling down into the darkness. You screamed as tumbled, landing hard on the rocky ledges. Your shoulder made and audible pop sound and you cried out as the limb went limp. Shit. Not good. Definitely not good. Your world flipped sideways, upside down, and backwards. You pulled the limb close to you, tucking it into your body as you followed the company down this hell hole of a slide. Breaking the limb now would be death. Who even made this thing- this sliding diveboard to hell ?! Seriously you felt like a ball in a pinball machine. It shot you about, slammed you into walls then- delivered you unceremoniously into a cage like structure. You fell with an thud onto Thorin, bilbo landing upside down and completely flustered, onto your lap. Throin gave a grunt as your weight hit him.

"Ohhh ...for the Love of ..." The company all moaned complaints beneath you But you were just thankful that Bombur had landed first. Nothing against the dwarf, it was just you didn't want to become a flat human pancake. And better to land on the annoying Thorin then the little hobbit.

You arm jarred in its socket as you tried to roll onto your feet and you screamed, as the limb twisted oddly. You couldn't move it, your brain trying to twitch the fingers in your right arm with little success. Tears sprang to your eyes as the pain slammed into you. Thorin groaned beneath you and the hobbit above as you moved.

"Sorry Y/n!" The little hobbit mumbled, pushing off of you. His eyes widened on your arm, his little face lighting up in worry. "Y/n- what - how - oh dear !"

"Get your weight off me !" Throin snarled, and you scrambled to stand, clutching the arm to your side.

"Sorry! " you muttered as you leapt away from the prickly dwarf King. He rose, angry and you held the limp arm to your side. Maybe Oin would know what to do-

The hair on your neck rose. A prickling of goosebumps broke across your skin and the great sense of dread you had been experiencing ever since Gandalf had been left behind came back in full force. Instinct had you turn around and about. What was that ? Some deep terror was worming its way through your brain, as the instinct be came stronger to run. Screeches, echoing in the darkness around you, resounded off the cavern walls. And they were growing louder.

Howling became deafening as a mob of creatures swarmed from behind you. The hands of these creatures were harsh and sharp, clawed and warty with boils all about their grey flesh. As they screeched and tugged, they leapt onto others of the company, two or three to a dwarf, catching up their weapons with swift ferocity. So these were the goblins you had heard so much about. During quiet times by the fire, when Gandalf would be smoking upon his pipe, the wizard would enlighten you on the many flora and fauna that existed here in the world of middle earth. And goblins the wizard had described were none the less as revolting as you had imagined.
