Matt's POV: As I sat in bed with Matteo, I smiled as I played on my iPad while he was just relaxing on my chest and speaking gibberish to me. "What's that bud? You want me to give you more attention?" I then went to kiss his forehead before reading some more on my iPad when I came upon something that was surprising me. It was an article about a planned protest/rally at the capitol in a few days. I could already sense that this was going to be bad. Trump was still claiming that he didn't really loose the election and I could tell this would be getting ugly.
That's when I sent the link to Antonio to get some information and whether he knew anything about it. Antonio pretty much called me right away. I laughed and picked up. "How did I know that would get you to call me?" Antonio sighed. "I've been meaning to call you anyways. So, I knew that you'd be awake. How's Sylvie? She okay there?" I sighed and could tell he was worried. Heck, I would be too if Gabby was pregnant right now during COVID. Heck, I still am worried when she goes out during COVID.
I then decided to calm his fears. "She's here and safe. Just don't come. They are talking. She needs to have more interaction with other women. And meanwhile, I get to spend some nice quality time with my little guy.": I then went to kiss Matteo's forehead before laying him down on the bed next to me. That's when I heard Gabby come in with the laundry basket. "Actually, you are going to do me a favor. You are going to fold these clothes. You need to do it once." I agreed and smiled. "Of course. Say hi to Antonio."
Gabby then sighed. "Seriously, you trying to put me in conflict with Sylvie?" I sighed. "No, I am calling to talk to him about an article I found online. It's about security at the capitol." I then grabbed my iPad and went to show her the article. "Wanted his opinion on it." Antonio then spoke up. "Honestly, I really doubt that any protestors will make it into the building. The capitol is a safe place after 9/11. Plus, I have no doubt that the capitol police are already making plans. However, I am just glad that we are getting rid of him."
We all agreed when he said that. "Listen, tell Sylvie I said hi and that I love her. We'll work this out." Gabby agreed. "Antonio, she just needs time. And you should've told mom." Antonio agreed. "I know. Now listen, can you just go hang out with her and keep her calm? She's pregnant with twins. And I am really excited to meet them regardless of what happens between me and Sylvie." Gabby was shocked when he said that. "Gabby, just go talk to Sylvie and don't analyze that too much. I will talk to him."
Gabby then nodded and gave me a quick kiss. "Okay. Talk later Antonio." Gabby then got up and walked back out to the living room to talk to Sylvie. Meanwhile, I grabbed the laundry and went to fold it for Gabby. "Okay, now back to what you just said. Are you really thinking that she is going to end your engagement...let me remind you that you have only been engaged for a week. Over this? Antonio, I was engaged to Gabby when she tried to adopt Louie. I didn't end the engagement." Antonio then sighed. "Nice try Matt, you didn't support her at first."
I sighed and understood. "I understand. By the way, I wanted to talk to you about something." I then decided to get up and close the door since I started to hear Gabby and Sylvie laughing. Walking back over to bed, I then resumed my conversation with Antonio. "You can do background checks for us right?" Antonio was shocked when I said that. "Why? Who's bothering you? Oh wait, is it another babysitter?" I then sighed. "No, it's for the future. Want to know if I can come to you to do background checks on possible surrogates."
Antonio then nodded and understood. "That makes a lot more sense. And of course, I don't want my future niece or nephew's surrogate to be a criminal. You guys just doing a surrogacy where she is carrying the baby or is she going to be related to the baby?" I shook my head. "No, we are going to be using some of the sperm I banked before I got snipped and one of Gabby's eggs." Antonio was shocked when I said that. "You already got snipped? Dude, that's crazy!" I sighed and then went to remind him. "Antonio, remember our predicament and the reason why we need to use a surrogate to have a second child?"
Antonio then agreed. "Awh. That makes more sense now. You can live without getting her pregnant but, you can't live without the love." I chuckled and agreed. "Okay, this is the last time we talk about this because it's awkward. I mean, you are both my friend and my brother-in-law. Not really something I am that okay with sharing considering it involves Gabby and mine's private life. Which of course, we are entitled to just like you are entitled to." Antonio then laughed. "Sure, because our private lives stay private. Dude, my sister is best friends with my fiancé or the mother of my child. Not sure where we are now."
I sighed and felt bad for him. "Antonio, don't give up on her. She was devastated when she lost you the first time. It's what brought us together. We grieved the loss of our loved ones together. That's why I was so awkward when we went on one date. It's because we knew stuff about each other's exes that we probably shouldn't have known. I mean, I was her ex-boyfriend's ex-brother-in-law when we dated." Antonio laughed.
That's when I noticed Matteo start to spit up. "Hey, what's up buddy? Why you spitting up?" I then went to grab his blanket and wiped his chin. Antonio then went to give me advice. "You hitting his back too hard?" I didn't even think about that and nodded. "Probably. He must not need that right now." I then looked down at Matteo and smiled as I rubbed his back. "I swear, you are going to love being a dad to a baby again. I am so in love with this little guy."
Antonio then laughed. "Just remember that when he becomes a teenage and starts talking back. Oh, and he also starts asking to use the car." That's when I remembered to ask Antonio about Diego's shift last night. "By the way, how was Diego's shift last night? Everything go okay?" Antonio agreed. "He felt lucky. He was allowed to be out past the curfew because he was working delivery. Hope you don't mind but, I got him to bring me free food at the check point."
I sighed. "Did Gabby approve you getting free food?" Antonio then spoke up. "I think she did. I have to check on that again." I then decided to go and ask her. "Or, I can." I then got up and went to walk out to the living room. "Hey Gabby..." Gabby then turned to look at me. "Oh, did he spit up?" I nodded. "I got it. Just have a question about Molly's?" Gabby then looked at me. "Yes, it's open today. Who's asking?" I then shook my head. "No, it's about Antonio getting free food."
Gabby then glared at me. "When did he get free food? He has to pay!" I then went to speak on the phone. "You hear that Antonio? We'll be taking it out of Diego's pay. Just give him the money." Antonio agreed. "Of course. Makes sense." I then looked at Gabby. "You let me know when you girls want food okay? I can cook and you can keep talking." Gabby smiled and nodded. "Can you just relax for now? And remember not to talk about our sex life with my brother! I heard you mention some sexual stuff!"
I nodded and understood. "Gabby, of course I wouldn't do that. That's reserved for Severide." Gabby then grabbed a pillow and went to throw it at me. Luckily I caught it because it would've hit Matteo. "Gabby! You almost hit Matteo." Gabby then bit her lip. "Sorry." I then went to carry him into the bedroom, not impressed. Gabby then turned to look at Sylvie. "I'll be back okay?" Sylvie then nodded, understanding that Gabby needed to talk to me quick.
