                             tired

                         I'm tired

My fate has been set out for me. Put down like a brick to the head.

I'm trying to stock up food for the winter but I don't think I'll survive. The government will find me and order me dead.

Sometimes, I wish I wasn't black..I don't wanna keep running. I want to be with people, but let's get serious.

It's  starting too get chilly which means winters coming. I already stocked up on clothes. I made them myself, out of deer and bear skin.

I'm Africa-American my mother taught me how to make clothes when the virus was going around. She said her grandmother, my great great grandmother taught her how to. I really miss my old fellows. They weren't so lucky like me.

I wouldn't really call this lucky. I saw a group of white people huddling together for winter not to far away.

The government has provided protection for them in a underground ground bunker.

Did I just hear a deer?

I listen closely hiding behind a tree.

There it is again!

I peek from the tree to see a group of deers, I think it's called a herd? I don't know man its been long since I went to school.

I get my hand made bow and shoot it with the stick I made into an arrow.

It cry's out in pain while the rest of the herd runs away. I shoot a baby deer running with it's little legs but not getting anywhere.

Sorry little man, but it's all for one.

I can almost hear the baby deer saying 'No it's not! It's one for all!'

It's sad that I still remember that Spongebob episode, it kinda reminds me of My Hero Academia. Too bad I'll never see the end.

I quickly shoot the adult deer and baby in the necks. They flop down like my life. I quickly look side to side seeing that it's safe, I run the the dead deers. I bend down and pray for the deers.

I hope both of you deers get another life, as something else.

After I'm done I drag them often groaning in pain. Damn it I'm so f-in weak, I need too try harder. I drag the two dead deers faster getting a nice grip on all four legs in both hands.

I finally reached the hidden cave i occupied. When I found it I considered myself lucky, not many have a place to call home now. The cave is pretty small. It's like one of those toy shapes of a circle and make it 3x larger.

I throw the two deers two the side and start gutting them free of intestines leaving only the meat and skin. When I'm finished I get ready too wash them out in the nearby lake where I get my water supplies. I peek out of the cave and feel something wet on my forehead. I look up only see it's snowing.

Fiddle sticks, I need to get these deer meats clean so I can roast and eat them. I need to go to the lake before it freezes up, and I can't make footprints.

I run fast holding the deer meat in both of my hands. Like a sack, I used the skin as a bag and put the meat in it.

I reach the lake quickly knowing where it's located. I wash the meats fast.

The snow is building up quickly.

I pick up the meat and jog back to the small cave dodging trees in my way. I see something from the corner of my eye halfway to my home. I turn my head around to see a big metal object  behind a couple trees.

Oh no, it must be the government.

I panic running to the cave lighting my footprints so they won't hear. I reach my cave blocking the entryway with lose plants making it look like a hill overrun by wild plants. Putting the meat in the corner and huddling near the back wall I think about good times when the world was in place..

"Oi!" I scream looking at a black girl hiding in a bush as I crawl in with her. "Want some meat-" I say but I'm cut off "Shhh" she says lowly, putting one finger on my lips.

I look too where she's looking. If I was white I would be as pale as a ghost ruining my camouflage of brown. "The government.." I whisper. "The government army.." She corrects me as I look at the men in the army suits.

As I try to crawl a little bit more into the bush but I step on something 'crack' I hold in my gasp, me and her still.

"What was that?" one of the army men says "I don't know John" says another. "I heard.." Says 'John' moving slowly towards the bush next to us. "It.." he speaks still moving slowly towards the bush. "Coming.." he says going slower "From here!" He screams cutting inside of the bush next to us. Just as I was about to let out a sharp scream the girl presses her chest against my back and covers my mouth with her palm.

"John just let it go, It was probably an animal." Says his friend. "Come on John! We need to get to Africa! The black people aren't gonna die themself!" He says on the brink of hitting him. "Alright.." He says walking away to the group, eyeing our bush.

As soon as they leave she let's go of my mouth "Sorry.." I say a couple minutes after they left. "It's alright." She replies.

"What's your name?" I ask "Melia" She states back "Suzanne" I say happily. "It was nice meeting you Suzanne." She said walking away.

"Wait!" I say a little louder this time. She stops. "I wanted to give you this.." I say as I hold up bear meat I just got after hunting. "How did you obtain this?" She asked taking the meat and spectating it carefully.

I scratch the back of my head "Heh, what can I say? I'm a pretty good hunter" I restate giving her a huge smile.

"Thank you Suzanne. I'll see you the next time we meet." She says giveig me a lip smile, holding the bag close or her chest and runs off. "Wait!" But by the time that word came out of my mouth, she was already gone.

I feel myself getting tired, thinking of that memory alway made me sad knowing that ill never see her again. I was only 17 for that matter she was just a bit older than me but more mature. Back then I've only been on my own for a year, now I'm 26 and still no sign of her.

I really hope I see her again

and with that memory replaying in my head, I fall asleep wishing I could go to sleep forever.
