chapter one: Changed

It was a very dark day in Corona.The sky was gray, as dark massive clouds bloked out the sun.

Varian looked over at his father, Quirin, as he stood talking to a shop keeper.
The two men were bartering about the price for pears.

Varian shivered, wrinkling up his nose.
No way was He getting anywhere near those nasty fruits.

After standing there for quite some time he cleared his throat.
"Heh-hem" Varian reached out and tugged light on his father's sleeve.
" I'm gonna go find princess Rapunzel "

His father waved him off, nodding his head. " Yeah that's fine son, just be home for dinner."

Varian smiled" wouldn't miss dinner for the world."

Turning on his heal, he ran off through the bustling streets of Coronas town Square, heading for the castle.

He ran, excited to see Rapunzel ans Eugene. Wanting to tell them of his late experiments and thw things he's learned with his Alchemy.
They would love to hear it, they always loved hearing what he had to say.

Blinded by his thoughts Varian didn't see the young boy about his age walking down the street, and before he knew it he ran right into him, knocking both of them to the ground.

"HEY-" The boy excited, glaring at Varian.

"I'm so so sorry I wasn't paying attention- are you ok?"

"No- now leave me alone "

Varian went to help him up but the boy smacked his hands away.
Varian gave a surprised and confused look and then noticed the bag the boy had been carrying, its contents screwn about the cobblestones.

Viles of liquid and papers full of notes.

"Are- are you an Alchemist to!?"

"NO!" The boy shouted, scooping up his stuff and glaring at Varian," Can't you just stay out of my life. "
And with that the boy ran off, disappearing into the bustling crowd.

Varian looked after him, staring into the crowd.
What did he mean buy "can't you just stay out of my life"?

He quickly dismissed it, the boy probably had him confused with someone else.
But then again how many other 15 year old alchemists with a bright to stripe in their hair are in Corona?

He continued to the castle, running through the halls, smiling as he mentally went over what he would say to Rapunzel and Eugene.

So caught up in his thoughts and joy, he didn't see the stalky man take a bag from the same young boy and slowly follow Varian.

He rounded a corner in the castle hall, stopping to look out one of the open doors to the garden grounds.

"It sure is a beautiful day"

His eyes landed on the figures of the Princess and Eugene on the far side of the garden.
Smiling he opened his mouth to call out to them,but was suddenly yanked backwards.

"MPH-" Varians words were cut off as he now struggled to get out of the grip of the stalky man.

"Hold still" He hissed, grabbing Varians jaw, and prying it open.
