Chapter 1

Elizabeth

I was busy minding my own business and taking out books from my locker when Ted, the most popular guy in school walked up to me with his flirtiest grin. Any girl would melt down if she was at the receiving end of this sly grinning face but I wasn't just any girl. I ignored him as if I didn't see him and continued minding my own business. He made a sound in his throat to get my attention. I slowly looked towards him and raised an eyebrow, I had a headache and wasn't sure why but I so didn't have time to play games.

"Have I mentioned how hot you look today?" clearly he was flirting but that didn't surprize me as apart from being the most popular guy in school, he was also the popular playboy around. I just looked at him without replying. He was extremely good looking; there was no doubt about that. Most girls in the school said that he was 'hot and sexy' but I just didn't feel like using those for him. You see, a guy has to have a personality to win my heart. When I was younger and a complete idiot I had a crush on him but thankfully I had grown out of it. I suddenly realised he was checking me out. His eyes were lingering on my body like I was his prey.

"What do you want?!" I snapped, pissed at him eye raping me.

"Well, for starters how about you and I go on a date tonight? I know you'll like the new restaurant that my dad just opened a week ago," he said in the seductive tone of his.

I looked around and saw other girls giving me death glares. I felt like laughing at them, if any one was scary it was me and besides I didn't have any interest in this flirt bloke.

"Are you asking me out?" I asked putting confusion in my voice.

"Of course, you are too hot to be single and I am pretty sure I'll be the lucky guy that would win your heart."

It wasn't the first time he had asked me out though, hell, many best friends of his tried to date me or at least get into my pants but they were all unsuccessful in their mission. I had always known that I had really good looks. One of my mother's friend even tried to set up an arranged marriage for me and her son but that too was declined my me. I wasn't ready to date yet because most of the guys in the school were pure morons and the good ones were mostly taken. I was the type that wanted a life partner besides I wasn't desperate to lose my V-card or have a boyfriend. My life was good if not perfect and I wasn't going to change it by adding a sick bastard.

"What about your girlfriend?" I asked sounding innocent, I knew that he was having some trouble lately with her according to all the gossip going around the school.

"Forget her, she doesn't deserve me," he replied proudly.

"And I deserve you?" I asked.

"Yes, you are too hot to be handled by any other guy in this school." He gave a glance behind me while saying the last words. I twirled around to see his best buds staring at us with totally pissed or jealous expressions. Okay, seriously Ted was truly annoying me by calling me hot again and again and his pals back there were thinking I'm some kind of a prize to award his looks and popularity.

I jumped when I heard a familiar annoying squeaky sound, "How dare you try to steal my boyfriend, you bitch!" And sure enough as my brain registered, the popular blond 'It Girl' of our school came stomping towards us with a very ugly expression on her face followed by her 'dolls'; that's not my word though, all the boys call them that, I would prefer to call them 'retards'.

"Oh, hi Christy. Ted was just telling me how he plans to get revenge on you," I said with a smirk. Nothing is better than getting a douchebag in trouble. Though it looked like Ted wasn't going to go down without a fight.

"I said it's OVER Christy!" he said with disgust. I wander what she had done to make him this angry.

"But Ted we belong together..."

"No, we don't! I have a new girlfriend now," he said as he put his arm around my waist and pulled me closer to his body. Now it was Christy's turn to give me a death glare but it wasn't needed. I pushed Ted away from me.

"Do you know what I had to say?" I said with a smirk.

"Yes sweetheart?" Christy gave a very squeaky growl when Ted used a pet name for me. Oh boy, this was going to be fun.

"I never said that I accept your invitation to date you and it won't even be that last thing to do on my death wish, so don't get your hopes up in having any kind of relationship with me," I ended my statement with a chuckle, if I would have been in a movie the chuckle would have been the evil laugh of the villian and looking at Ted and his pals shocked faces I knew I had won. Christy in her pink outfit and complete wacko makeup was still looking at Ted in anger but I could tell some sort of tension released her as I turned down Ted's offer but I knew there were many girls that would give anything to get at least one night with him so he was probably going to get a girlfriend soon. I shook my head and walked towards my next class with my chocolate brown hair bouncing as I made my way in between all the shocked faces of all the students of the entire school.

As I sat on my usual seat in the second row, the whole incident kept roaming along my mind. "Hi," a sweet voice in front of me said distracting me from my thoughts. Hannah with curly black hair pulled back in a tight pony tail and black framed glasses was the typical school's nerd. She was sweet, kind and cute. I smiled at her and said hi.

"I don't get it, I'm dying to get a boyfriend and you refuse the most popular guy in school flat on his face," she said innocently.

“Well, guys like him only deserve bitches and I’m not one of them besides I'm sure he was just saying that to get away from his former crazy girl friend.,” I replied.

"I guess you're right. I hope I get to be brave like you someday." I would have said something but the teacher entered and everybody went in concentrating on the lecture.

"Hey Elizabeth," a voice came beside me and I turned to see Jenny staring at me.

"Yes?"

"Are you coming to the Volleyball practice today?" She asked.

"I'm not sure but I don't feel too good today, it's just a slight headache but I don't think I'll be able to concentrate with it." She nodded and went back to listening to the lecture.

I was the school's most popular sports girl. I had won trophies for my school in Tennis, Throw ball, Volleyball and 800 meter race. It is a natural talent but it isn't the only one I have. My other talent is most basically like a power and my cousin has it too. I live with my cousin since my dad died my mom married an idiot who calls himself my step-dad and there is no freaking way I'm going to live with them. Besides I'm eighteen which means I'm legally an adult citizen that can live according to my own wish. Living with my cousin also helps to disguise our... power; she says it's dangerous and if someone finds out that we attract the dead- well, that wouldn't be good. We were naturally born as necromancers and I was hoping that it wasn't dangerous enough to get us killed.
