Lizzie listened to the chatter over the radio. There really wasn't much she could do but listen, she heard Sharon's voice and smiled to herself, but that soon dropped as she noticed the commotion of people trying to get out of the building as fast as they could, like rats leaving a sinking ship. Lizzie watched on the camera's they had inside the centre, which had become their HQ. They were limited to what they could see, but if she spotted anything she would let the others know.

She heard Bucky; he was on the phone. "Karli." He said coolly.

The name made her blood run cold; she knew the girl had the right ideas she just wasn't going about them the right way. Lizzie just wanted Bucky to come out of this safe. She could hear his side of the conversation. From what she could hear Karli was trying to push Bucky into doing something stupid. Lizzie spoke then. "Remember who you are Buck. Don't let her in your head."

Lizzie was trying to follow the whole conversation; it was hard there were so many things going on. She looked round the room, everyone else was so calm, and she was a nervous wreck, something she had never been. She had always been calm, she never panicked at work, working under pressure was what she craved sometimes. But this was different, she had people she loved out there, the father of her child was out there. The soldier that had escorted her, under Bucky's orders, placed his hand on her shoulder.

"I find it's best to keep taking long breaths."

She turned and smiled up at him. "Thank you. You wouldn't think I was a surgeon. I finally know what it feels like to be the family in the waiting room."

"Sergeant Barnes will be fine. He knows how to look after himself."

"At his age, I hope he does."

The soldier smiled down at her. It was then that she heard another voice, but this voice made her blood boil. Walker, what the hell was that idiot doing here.

She listened to the grunting and chatter through the headsets, when she heard Bucky's grunt and scream, her heart leap out of her chest. She got up to get out of her chair, the soldier laid his hand firmly on her shoulder.

"Sergeant's orders."

Lizzie used her strength to push herself up, she turned on the soldier. "I need to know he is, ok?"

"I can't let you leave here."

Lizzie smiled, she liked this guy, he wasn't easily intimidated by all the super soldiers around him. "You do know I could just move you, right?"

"I gather that ma'am. So I'm going to use dirty tactics and remind you, you're pregnant." Lizzie sat back down then, she knew he was right and hated that she felt so helpless. She also hated that she hadn't thought about the child at that moment.

It seemed like hours that she listened to them, every grunt, every moan tore at her heart. Her hand was resting on her stomach. She wanted this little one to grow up in a better world. Grow up to know right from wrong and to know there is always a nonviolent way to do things. She knew that is what her grandfather had tried to tell her, he had trained her slightly to defend herself if she had too, but he had always taught her to try and reason with someone before violence, she was going to carry that forward with this child.

She heard Bucky telling Sharon where they were, and then that he 'got it', she really hoped he did. She had heard people running away from something and knew that he would be running towards it. She then heard Sam, he was clearly talking to Karli, she had grown to really like Sam. He, like her grandfather, would try talking first and that is what made him Captain America over everything else.
