Reki! Sickness au (Renga)

Chapter 1

"...What?"

Reki has been feeling a bit strange these past few days such as extremely tired, nauseous, lost appetite, and a LOT of nosebleeds. His mom decided to take him so the hospital when he fainted at dinner. What he didn't expect was those were actually signs of a disease that he wish he never had..

"I'm very sorry but according to the tests we took, it turns out you have leukemia."

He wished those words never came out of the doctor's mouth

He wished he could feel better

He wished he had Langa with him...

"Thank you doctor... How do I feel better or get rid of it?" He said softly while fiddling with the thin and scratchy bed sheets that are covering him.

"Well to get rid of it, you need to go under many treatments of chemotherapy. There are a few other ways to treat this specific disease but this one has been the most effective for many years. I am going to go outside and discuss this with your mother." The doctor left and as soon as he did Reki let the tears that were piling behind his eyes fall down his face. He didn't want this to happen. How was he going to explain to his friends that he has a disease that will stop him from skateboarding for a long time? Will he DIE?! He still wanted to do so much in his life! He wanted to live... Reki started panicking in his bed over the thought of dying. The doctor immediately rushed in with his mom and calmed him down. He looked up at his mom with tears in his eyes.

"Am I going to die..?"

His mom burst out in tears. "Oh honey... There is a small chance.." That's not what he wanted to hear. "But I k-know that you w-will live! You are so strong a-and you will get through t-this! You will b-be able to s-skateboard and hangout w-with friends.. and.. you'll b-be able t-to live" his mom couldn't take it anymore and sat down on a chair next to the bed trying to stop herself from crying. She looked at him with puffy blood-shot eyes and saw him sadly smiling at her.

"I will live for you Mama.. and Koyomi and the twins." He let more tears fall as he couldn't stop them. "I w-will live for my friends.. I-I promise!" His mom smiled back and the doctor left the room to go get the paperwork for them because Reki would have to stay the night. They sat in silence trying to figure out the positive side to this terrible dilemma. Reki's eyes widened when he realized he couldn't make it to S that night and needs to call Langa so he wouldn't try and pick him up. "Mom! Can you leave the room for a minute? I need to call Langa so he knows hat I won't be at home and won't try to bring me to- uh the skatepark!" She nodded and got up and out slowly. Reki dialed his best friends number quickly.

"Hey langa! So uh. I won't be able to come to S tonight.."

"Reki? Are you ok? It sounds like you've been crying.."

"I-I'm fine! I'll explain why I can't come tomorrow. I'll see you later man!"

"Alright... Bye"

"Bye!"

Reki hung up and let out a breath he didn't know he was holding. He knew he needed to explain everything to Langa tomorrow and didn't know how to feel. He quickly texted him,

"Hey! I forgot. Can you bring everyone to Joe's restaurant at 4:00?I need to tell you all something."

"Uh sure? I'll tell them."

"Thanks dude!"

"Np"

Reki wasn't exactly excited but he knew that it was something he had to do. He called his mom back in and she told him she was going to go back home and get dinner for his sisters then come back with clothes and a few blankets to stay the night. He nodded and layed down completely on his pillow and let sleep take over his body.
