chapter 8

I couldn't stop my tears, it was running uncontrollable.

I was crying in his arms not bothered about the time, my job or who came. I had cried myself to sleep in his arms not knowing, I woke up again in the same room but Philip was no where to be found. I looked around with just a bit hope he would be here, but why would he be here anyway. I sighed and slowly got out of bed and my head was throbbing with pain and it felt like carrying a big rock on my head. I dragged myself outside and headed downstairs hoping I would find someone.

I went to the kitchen to get water and found Philip's wife. she was busy with something on her phone, so I decided to let her be and get what I wanted, after gulping the water in the glass I was about to leave when Philip came in with a worried expression worn on his face. She went to speak to him but he just ignored her and came towards me and asked me if I was feeling fine, I just nodded " did you find him?? What's happening?" I asked him with tears threatening to fall down. I held my hands to calm myself down and that they will find him.

I was still furious at him, he's the reason Damon ended up like this, missing, gone. I pulled back and told him that I will wash up and come back to search for him, " no, you should rest. The doctor told me that you have exhausted yourself. You will fall ill if you keep going like this " Philip stated a bit worried for me. But I didn't care, damon needed me. I had promised him, " you don't need to worry about me, you never did so don't act like you do. I will do what I want anyway " I told him without looking at him and walked myself out the house and headed straight to my house with a taxi.

I rushed into my house after unlocking the front door, I stepped in and was about to rush upstairs when I saw a familiar figure at the corner of my eye. I looked that way and saw my dad standing there looking at me with sad eyes, I figured he heard the news. I ran towards him and hugged him tightly and cried in his arms, he rubbed my back to calm me down. He pulled me back after I had cooled down, " he will be fine, I know that. Nothing will happen to him, you should believe that. " he said looking directly in my eyes, I just nodded.

I got changed and when I reached the last step, I could smell a delicious aroma coming from the kitchen and slowly walked there to find my dad cooking something for me. He signaled me to sit down and I did follow him, he placed the dish in front of me and told me to eat. I ate without a single word leaving my mouth and while my dad just looked at me eat. After I finished eating I thanked my dad and took my bag and rushed out to take a taxi to the dock. Philip had called me a while ago telling me that he's there searching for Damon with a search party.

Damon heard a knock on the door, he rubbed his eyes and got out of his 'bed' and opened the door to find William. He still looked sleepy so William decided to invite himself in, " hope you slept well.. dinner is ready the queen has asked for you " William informed Damon while looking around and Damon just nodded " lead the way " he said. William swam through few of the corridors with a lost and mesmerized Damon behind him.

They finally reached a big golden door which had a lot of detail embedded in it, it looked like a lot of people and a lot of work was done to it. William knocked on the door and after a while the two big door opened for the both of them to walk in, as soon as they walked in, damon could see a big room with a long table with several chairs with candles and royal cutlery placed in its place. The queen sat at the head and princess next to her, no one was sitting there with them, damon was told to sit in front of the princess.

After he sat down, a mermaid came and served him his food, he saw that it was fish and it was well made and presented. They ate in sclience for a while and the queen decided to break the silence " so how do you like your new room, I hope we were welcoming enough " the queen stated without removing her eyes of her plate. " yes your highness, the room is very warm and comfortable and William here welcomed me with a warm heart " he said with a big smile plastered on his face. The queen nodded and continued her dinner.

There was no one talking during dinner and this silence was less awkward than he thought, William had long gone and the only people left in the room was the three of them. " I am sure you have met my daughter already, Aqua " the queen said finally looking away from her food and at him. Damon looked at the unbothered princesses in front of him and turned towards the queen " yes your highness, I have had quite the tour of this beautiful castle thanx to the princess " he ended with a pleasant smile.

" oh good then, Aqua will be giving you the tour of our city from tomorrow " the queen said with a rather calm voice. Aqua and Damon both wore the same expression surprised but Damon also had excitement blasting in him. " huh, mom but what about..." the princess tried to express her opinion but was abruptly stopped by the queen " you don't have to worry about your duties I got someone to get them done and I need William for something more important and I don't trust anyone enough to take care of him. So it's final you give him the tour " the queen said with a stern yet calm voice.

Aqua had no other choice than to agree so she ended the conversation just by saying 'yes mother', she didn't like the idea of spending time with a human and decided to just get things done with minimal conversation. While on the other hand Damon was excited about his tour tomorrow, he thought that it's the princesses he can spend time with. He also had loads of questions unanswered and was so desperate for them to be answered, he was curious nonetheless. So he thought why not the princesss to answer them all to him.

The rest of the dinner was quite with just a few tiny conversations here and there, damon was a bit happy cause he could sense that the queen was a bit more comfortable with him than before. While the princess was still a bit of cold shoulders towards him, but he had put his mind and soul to put that wall of hers down before he leaves. He knew he just needed to gain the queens and Aqua's trust and he would be swimming back to land.

He thought he could talk and get to know Aqua and get her to trust him, he was smooth with girls after all. He had quite the practice during university, he just wanted to get back to land and that's all he could think of right now and he was ready to do anything for that. But what he didn't know that Aqua had other plans for him tomorrow. The rest of the dinner went quite peaceful both of them lost in their dream world while the queen wondering about her rebellious daughter being rather quite.

After the dinner Damon went back to his room for the time being, the queen had left long time ago and the princess had excused herself right after she had finished while he was taking the time of his life to reach his room, looking around and admiring the architect of this place. While he was exploring he spotted a door which was slightly open and the curiosity taking better of him, he swam towards the tiny slight. According to him, it was begging to be discovered, although he knew the curiosity killed the cat he still went for it.

He pushed the door forcing the door to make sounds, it seemed old he thought and went in a little further until he got in completely. It was dark not like other places in the castle, he saw something sparkling in the dark corner of the room, when he decided to head back and not intrude. He swam towards the shiny object. It was like a room, an old one which has not been used in a long time and no one bothered cleaning it. He picked it up and it was a necklace, it was beautiful and shiny. At one look he knew that it was human made and he felt like he has seen it somewhere.

He was taking a closer look at it, squinting his eyes to figure out and the darkness didn't help him either. He tried to look around more and see if he finds something but well life isn't that simple is it, " who are you? And what are you doing here? " a voice pretty loud and annoyance vivid in her tone. Damon froze and slide the necklace in his pant pockets without being noticed, he turned around slowly to find a beautiful mermaid standing at the door which is now opened completely. " uh huh... I....um" he couldn't find words in his defense. " oh your the human who was saved and mother let you stay for some deal right " she stated with a bit more calmed voice, I nodded " yes... I am Damon. But do I know you " he stated clueless yet not surprised.

He had sort of gotten used to this reaction, " oh I am sorry. Yes you dont know me, I was not there during the decision making I had other duties to attend. Well I am Anthea, I am the second daughter of the queen. It's pleasure to meet you " she gleamed with excitement and smiled at me quite lovingly. " oh your highness, I am sorry I didn't know " he said while coming towards her and bowed gentlemen like. " oh well, damon may I ask what's your business here " she continued with a stern voice. Damon didn't know what to make of it, he knew he would die here if he screwed up even a bit. Think Damon think was all he could do for the time being.
