The rest of Marcos day was filled with sobbing and sulking, staying hidden away in bathrooms or storage closets every chance he got. He avoided Jean the best he could, every time he caught a glance of him he'd glare daggers his way. When he confronted Hange about the sudden change she asked questions as to why. Why he wouldn't want to sleep with his best friend. Marco kept quiet, saying they simply had a fight and Jean didn't feel like seeing him. She didn't question any longer and simply got him to sleep Armin. He didn't really complain much. Armin was a good friend of his. Well, it was a couple years ago. Who knows what could have changed in the many years he's been "gone". But be doubted a sweet guy like Armin could grow into an asshole.
"Can I ask what happened?"
Marco looked up from what he was doing. He pulled his boot off and dropped it to the side, his hands resting on each of his knees after. "I...rather not talk about it." "Well I'm here if you change your mind." Armin's sweet smile made the other boy smile in response. Though at the same time it was heartbreaking. He'd always say that kind of stuff to Jean. Give him a calming smile. And comfort him. Yet now he's the one needing comfort because he fucked up horribly with him.
"Thank you Armin. Really…" The blond dropped his jacket onto the floor and undid the top button of his blouse. He sat down beside Marco and rested his hand on the boys back. "It's okay… I just hope Jean can grow some balls and apologize." The sudden curse of the usual kind boy made Marco laugh in response. "Language!" They both chuckled.
The two of them continued to go on for a bit, exchanging random and stupid jokes. Marco was still upset, wanting to run away back into the bathroom to cry but he held his ground, comforted by the blond that sat with him.
"Now what actually happened." Hange's question was like a knife in the back as Jeans brows furrowed. "Does it matter?" "Yes it does." Jeans hands were aggressively shoved into his pockets as he walked, kicking a rock and watching it bounce across the ground. They both paused. Hange let him take his time to try and conjure up a response. Before long his head tilted up, sighing as he spoke up. "He said he was gay and I'm not sleeping in the same room as some faggot." Jeans words made Hange huff with rage. "Excuse me?" The two of them made their way down the path, the field quiet yet loud with birds calling to each other. Jean shook his head at his own words, snarling as the ground. "Whatever, I'm just not gonna face him." "Did he confess his feelings or something?" The boy finally perked up, looking the woman in the eyes. He looked confused yet offended by who knows what. "Yeah but i'm not gay so i don't know why." "It's like if your girl crush was a lesbian." "Huh?" Jean looked completely lost, Hange pausing and turning to face the dumbfounded boy. She let out a deep sigh, Jean stopping by her. "It's like if you confessed to some girl but they ended up being lesbian. Meaning they only like women. No?" The boy only stared at Hange with a small tilt in his head. "But either way-" "Jean whats wrong with homosexuals?" Jean wrinkled his nose at the interruption yet continued. "Nothing I never-" He was interrupted yet again. "You called him a faggot and left the boy crying cause you were anything but nice." By the time Marco told Hange Jean didn't want to see him, tears were streaming down the freckled boy's cheeks. It was no question by the puffy red cheeks before that he's been crying non stop before that. "But…" "you're being harsh are you not? He's your best friend yet you're gonna leave him like this cause hes gay? Cause he loves you?" Jean was speechless, staring at the woman with her hands on her hips and brows raised. She wasn't at all happy with Jean and I doubt anyone would be right now. Hange spoke up again, not wanting to wait for another homophobic response. "If anything it just sounds like you're trying to refuse the fact that you yourself are gay." She continued walking, not giving Jean any time to respond. He was left a flustered and angered mess, stumbling on his words before grunting and catching up with her. "I'm not, but dream on." Hange simply laughed under her breath, continuing to walk with him till they made their way back with the others.
